The balance of yin-yang in aspect of daily life by referencing a chapter of Qian and Kun from a Book of Change

  • Introduction

The concept of Yin-Yang is a philosophical theory that is dominant concept and deeply rooted in Chinese thinking, Chinese culture and the way of life by measuring of time and seasons, for healthy diets, for cultivating and prosperous fruitful agriculture, the protection, prevention and to have a restful mind and body. All the behavior of human body is consistently depended on the featuring of external force. Thus, for achieving a better life and a healthy lifestyle, one must and need to understand that yin and yang are not opposite to each other but complementary opposite to each other to rise turn by turn. Everything has both yin and yang energies as day cannot exist without darkness and vice versa. In every day life, whether it is a business or is an issue of health, there find an aspect of yin and yang. When we faced a difficulty situation, we tend to concentrate on one angel rather than the both angel. due to the ignorance, we tend to forget the other side of angel. giving too much important at one side, in will result in imbalance and the chance of failing in more dangerous situation. Therefore, it is important to have a balancing of yin and yang energies in our day to day life for prosperous and healthy lifestyle.

Thus, the importance of having a balancing Yin and Yang theory in our daily life is very much essence and it is a part and parcel of our life. For example, one of conversation pointed by Huang Di during the meeting with his ministers by expressing concern of our generations correctness life styling and why the longevity of people’s life differs by stating “I’ve heard that in the days of old everyone lived one hundred years without showing the usual signs of aging. In our time, however, people age prematurely, living only fifty years. Is this due to a change in the environment, or is it because people have lost the correct way of life?” (Ni, M. 1995. Pp.1). therefore, this is obviously because change in time, people and totally because of modernization and world of technology. And people prefer to fastness route to achieve something. So, it is very important to have a balance in life neither indulge excessively in destructive activities nor excessive momentary fantasies. And yes! It is more important for students who want to spend your day meaningful and fruitful then its very essence to understand the concept and knowing the importance of yin and yang existence in life.

What is Yin and Yang? To make my essay more understandable it is important part as well. The Yin Yang theory is one of central understanding of ancient Chinese philosophy, ancient Chinese medicine, martial arts and I-Ching concept of better life. Everything around us is composed of yin and yang energies though they are seeming opposition in every attributes aspect. In fact, each force cannot exist without the other, they deeply support and nourish each other. therefore, yin and yang continually create each other, control each other, and subsequently transform into each other through a kind of gradually cooperation, an inner dynamic in the nature of things. For example, the one force by its existence creates a space for the other. Yin and yang interact throughout the cycle and then, subsequently, give a range of action or result.  Here is some basic description that distinguish between Yin and Yang as Yin describes the principles of femaleness, passive, yielding, reflection and negative. These are portraying a hidden and reflecting the force. Yang describes as maleness, active, control, solid, and positive. Basically representing as thrusting force for action.

It was believed that Yin and Yang worked together in an endless cycle that the seeds of one were contained in the other, and that one could only use temporary dominance over other thus, they considered a balanced and holistic approach was the natural requirement for healthy change. But, due to the hectic and predominantly inactive modern lifestyle, most of the people in today’s life tend to be more Yin or more Yang rather than having a balance, in will result in imbalance and unhealthy lifestyle.

Therefore, today my essay’s central focused will be “if you want a healthy and harmony Life, you need to bring a balance in Life” particularly looking in day to day life of student. So, here comes what balance am I talking about? This question will find a solution answer in coming section of the essay. I only share what is relevant to me as being a student myself and how theory of yin-yang cycling works in daily life.

I want to start my essay by saying everything is interdependent. When things happened, they are never caused by just one condition- they are the resulted of many conditions coming together, both external and internal. so, our external condition might be that our partner leaves us, but our level of suffering also relies on how much we react internally to such an external condition and the part we played in the collapse of the relationship, because there is never only one good side and one bad. Our feelings will go up and down like a rollercoaster because there are so many other factors at play. Ironically, we often spend a great deal of time and effort trying to control our external condition, while letting our internal reaction run wild. Thus, the central significant of Yin and yang are opposite in nature, but are interconnected and they rely on each other, and they can’t exist without each other. The balance of Yin and Yang is important. If yin is stronger, Yang will be weaker, and vice verse. For example: feelings such include as laziness, excessive sleep, depression, cold, overeating (unhealthy diet) and too much of time staying alone. In a relationship between yin and yang are unbalanced for prolonged periods of time or in an extreme manner, the resulting transformation may be quite drastic, resulting in the transformation into opposite or the cessation of existence. For example, if we do not have rest and nourishment after periods of activity and exertion, we can become run down, sick, and may, in extreme cases, pass away. In this way Yin and Yang exercise mutual control over each other. if yin is excessive, then yang will be weak, and vice versa.

  • Yin-yang in day to day lifestyle

In 21st first century, most of the people are tend to be more influence of yang energy on life. Working too long hard hour, spending excessive time in gym and yes, during holiday spending amount of quality time on watching TV whole day. And yin energy like long walk, meditation, restful sleep and so on. Therefore, act of balancing important for prosperous, harmony life and healthy. As mentioned in chapter of kun, fourth significant of kun stated that “fourth six. Kun alternates to delight” (Huang, A. 2010. Pp 45) as for my understanding one should wait for favorable time to counteract. So, if we work too much and our body get exhausted. The symptoms of yang (too much Yin) energies like laziness and, anxiety and depression, unhealthy diet will start. So, it is important to know your limit and be cautious about your changing behavior and try to maintain the balance. Moashing central assertion in his translation of the Neijing Suwen was “Health and well-being can be achieved only by remaining centered in spirit, guarding against the squandering of energy, promoting the constant flow of qi and blood, maintaining harmonious balance of yin and yang, adapting to the changing seasonal and yearly macrocosmic influences, and nourishing one’s self preventively. This is the way to a long and happy life.” (Ni, M. 1995. Pp.1) Thus, the importance of having a balancing Yin and Yang theory in our daily life is very much essence and it is a part and parcel of our life. For students who want to spend your day meaningful and fruitful then its very important to understand the concept and knowing the importance of yin and yang existence in life. Otherwise you won’t do any thing and your day will have wasted.
