Safety Is Like a Lock, But You Are The Key

After sixty people killed and 500 injured at a concert in Las Vegas, the debate about gun control started. Some states that have no gun control have a higher gun death rate. The second amendment of the United States of America regulates that people can have possession of firearms. People argued that even if can protect the rights of an individual to buy arms for self-defense, people think that the government should have stronger laws over gun control. The second amendment very readily accepted because of the agreement, but the government shouldn’t let anyone have the right to buy firearms. Many families were asking president Trump to have control over the weapons after a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, Florida. The government is providing people the right to purchase a gun; In other words, the government is helping those criminals to kill people. Some countries that have an active gun laws implementation saw an effect on the homicide rates. The government should ask people that want to buy a gun to provide a background check, get a mental check with the doctor, give a copy of their records. Guns are the cause of much of the violence and crime in the world. Some states with strict gun control have less gun violence. The governments should have more control over guns. If guns are regulated, then we will have less crime.

Alcindor (page 1) informs that some states with gun laws have less gun violence. Alcindor reports that “ States with more laws control had a death rate of 42% lower than those with the fewest laws.”According to statistics, some 13,286 were killed by firearms in the United States during 2015. There had been more than 90 mass shootings in the United States since 1982, according to an investigation made by the magazine Mother Jones. Every year the number of killed people are increasing by a significant percent. Gun violence count as half of the violence in the United States. Some killers are very young; Nikolas Cruz, 18, the killer from Stoneman Douglas High School, Florida which is responsible for killing seventeen students and leave some injured is now getting judge by the U.S government. Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, the shooters from Columbine High School were responsible for killing thirteen students, and leave twenty-four injured; committed suicide to themselves after taken away other people’s lives. The youngest killer is Andrew Douglas Golden, 11, killed five students and teachers and left ten injured in Westside Middle School in Arkansas. America has a lot of types of guns such as Handguns, Rifles, Shotguns, and other firearms. After shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, police reported that they recovered dozens and rifles. I think that the U.S government is not trying to help people because they allow young people to purchase firearms. Alcindor (page 2) asserts that “ Laws that required background checks and permits to purchase a gun are associated decreasing rates of gun violence.” Comparing the shootings of 2015; in the school shootings we have 64 school shootings in total, and many people injured. Domestic Violence is a factor that affects millions of women around the world; researchers had found that guns in a domestic violence situation are more likely that the woman will get killed by the abuser. The government requires background checks for all gun sales. According to EveryTown, more than 50 American women killed by their partners, and much more injured. Suicides is another violence related to guns; people commit to kill themselves because they have problems, they feel depressed, alone, they feel like mean nothing, they are not being loved by their families. 90% of people who attempt to kill themselves with guns will die, and 90% percent of people who tried to kill themselves with other methods will live. I think that the second amendment shouldn’t let people with families buy guns because it can lead them to domestic violence.

Macdonald (page 1) informs that “ gun laws have limited to some cities, and some have failed”People ask themselves every day is what leads people to commit a crime? Today’s kids are more exposed to violence because of video games and the violent movies their parents let them watch. In today’s world both parents are always busy working they have no time to educate their kids, teach them what’s good and bad, they can’t have control over them, they have no time to give them love. If parents don’t have time to show their children love, parents expect them to grow up and show love to any other people. When you don’t care if the person next to you, besides you, in front of you lives or dies, it is easy to kill them without feeling any guiltiness. Also, there is the issue of mental illness; most mass shooter in the United States had a mental illness that made them commit a crime without thinking about the consequences and the lives of those innocent people. Some people cannot have access to mental health treatment because they don’t have money. I think that the family can be one factor why people commit crime because their parents didn’t have time to teach them their values. Macdonald (page 2) informs that “Restricting access to guns and their purchase associated with reductions in gun crimes.” The use of drugs can be other factors to make people commit crimes, people that are under the influences of drugs or alcohol do not know about what they’re doing, they can kill people intentionally, but drugs are leading them to do it. They can’t have control over their feelings and actions when they are under the influence of drugs. It is essential to show children their values, show them, love, have control over them. Guns have always been easy to obtain in the United States. After shooting in Douglas High School, Florida noticed that the shooter sent “red flags” to show how dangerous he was, and have hated the fact that the people didn’t pay attention to these messages. Some researchers said that it is essential to recognize “red flags” that are sent and to take action, by calling the police, notifying schools and community. The United States is the country that has higher rates of guns ownership, suicides, domestic violence, and accidental gun deaths. I think that people should pay more attention to signs from other people even though if it sounds fake.
