Personalities are reflections of who people truly are at their core. This past week each team member completed a DISC Platinum RuleTM Behavioral Assessment. As stated in the assigned reading, this assessment provides its users with the tools for becoming a better person, the ability to behave more maturely and productively, and to be more successful. Recognition of different personality styles are observed as each team member completes the assessment. All patterns may not work for everyone. However, these patterns are valuable to building relationships.

The Platinum RuleTM identifies four main behavioral styles and 16 sub-styles. Explanations of the main behavioral styles are listed as follows:

Dominance style (D) - driven by two governing needs: the need to control and the need to achieve. The D style is goal oriented, go getters, and most comfortable when they are in charge of people and situations.

Interactive style (I) - friendly, enthusiastic, and like to be where the action is. They thrive on the admiration, acknowledgement, and compliments that come with being in the limelight. They just want to have a good time.

Steadiness style (S) - warm, supportive, and nurturing. They are the most people oriented of the four styles. This style represents excellent listeners, devoted friends, and loyal employees. Their laid back disposition makes them very approachable. This style is an excellent team player.

Cautious style (C) - analytical, persistent, systematic people who enjoy problem solving. This style is very detail-oriented, and task-oriented, who enjoy perfection and working toward tangible results. The Cautious style has high expectations of themselves and others. This can tend to make them very critical and judgmental.

The 16 sub-styles that correlate to the four main styles are as follows:

* The Adventurer

* The Producer

* The Pioneer

These style descriptions are stated from 'The Platinum RuleTM Model Behavioral Styles" by Dr. Tony Alessandra. Upcoming, discussion on each team members behavioral trait, how they perceive themselves, how each team member perceives each other, and how each behavioral trait compares and contrast with each other.

With the results from the DISC platinum assessment, we have gathered information which categorizes the behavioral traits of each team member into a main behavioral style and sub-style. Each style goes hand in hand in contributing to the assessment of our personalities. As a team, we found it interesting how closely relatable the traits in the assessment come to our personalities.

Marina's assessment identified her as belonging to the Dominance main style and the "Adventurer" sub-style. This combination, "Di," is otherwise known as the socializing director or expressive driver. This style of dominance is motivated by independence. The adventurer has a very challenging personality for they are cautious of people who can advance before them. They can be categorized as overachievers because they do not like being beaten to a goal. The adventurer is result oriented because of their nature to accomplish more than what they expect of themselves. It becomes somewhat of a habit for the adventurer to oversee quality over quantity, and accomplishing as many tasks as possible is not a problem for this subtype and time is of the essence because of the importance placed on completing tasks as quickly as possible. Because the adventurer has feelings of great self-worth they do not mind confrontation and maintain their self-worth even after making mistakes. This person is very positive and focuses on success and strengths rather than weaknesses. Although it may seem as if the adventurer can tackle anything this mindset also carries a significant stress load. The tendency to become impatient when dealing with complex situation is also prominent. When under pressure this character has the tendency to force-fit solutions when instead they should take the time to analyze their position and relax. This personality type has many positive leadership traits and is a very good description of the dominance style.

In contrast to Marina, Bernadette's assessment placed her in the Interactive main style and the "Enthusiast" sub-style. This combination is labeled the "Id" or the driving expressive. The motivational objective of the enthusiast is to influence people. This character is very authoritative and enjoys the symbol of prestige. The enthusiast needs a wide range of independent roaming because they become uncomfortable with confinement or restriction of freedom. Unlike the adventurer, when the enthusiast is under pressure they tend to become soft or evasive to their situation. The big picture with the open mind to new opportunity is constantly a residing factor for the enthusiast. Similar to the director in confidence levels; criticism is not a road block in the path of endeavors and a positive attitude is ever present.

In addition to Bernadette, Erin and Krystle's assessments also placed them in the Interactive main style. However, both Erin and Krystle also had results that indicated the sub-style, the "Impresser" or "Ic." This particular combination is described as a thinking socializer or analytical expressive. The description of traits lives true to the name of this subtype because the main thing that motivates this character is to win with flair. This does not mean that the impresser is boastful because they are very cautious of people's sentiment and they do not want to hurt feelings at any cost. The impresser sees winning as an all or nothing proposition and tends to become impatient with others who procrastinate about getting started on projects. Image is another
