Major obstacles to communication on jobs

Communication is one of the most important aspect of our social life and in business as well. A polished communication can solve various hassle of personal life and work place instantly. On the other hand, a wrong communication approach can be disastrous.

Our today’s discussion will be about the major communication barriers in the workplace.

There can be two type of barriers which can obstruct the communication process. First one is the communication process is poor itself and the other is a well constructed commination message may fail due to situation or wrong approach.

A poor or unplanned communication may not convey its purpose, thus failing the purpose or agenda. Unplanned communication message includes- communication without considering cultural aspect, stereotyping, lack of grammar in written communication, using local communication standard rather the standard one, unable to use proper resources and appropriate time, no structured in-house (official) way of communication, unethical communication, communicating the audience who doesn’t have common experience and over use of generalization or abstraction. These aspects can lead a very poor communication approach and most likely to fail the purpose of workplace communication.

Accordingly, a poor approach of conveying a well-structured message can lead to failure of its agenda. When trying to communicate with a fellow in the workplace, these aspects can act as a barrier of communication process- fail to identify proper audience, audience is not a good listener, fail to use proper communication technology, audiences lack of understanding of the communication language, attitude of the audience, not considering cultural diversity, generation gap between sender and receiver, some physiological aspects (like- hearing problem), lack of team cooperation (if applicable), lack of using proper medium of communication.
