How Did The Effects Of The Blitz Covered Up By The British Government

During the Second World War, London became a main target for the German fighter planes, with many people laying in wait for the "Doodle bugs" which stopped making noises when dropping bombs, many factories in the city were targeted. Hendon plane factory and roots tank factory where targeted in the blitz due to being large production lines.

During these years the British government had to find ways of keeping morale and spirit of the British people at a high. If this was not achieved then many people would have rebelled against the attempt of war and may have caused within Britain itself. This would have in turn affected our armed forces and would have destroyed any chance of winning the campaign against Germany.

In an attempt to keep the British spirit high the government ordered that any information that was going to be released in any type of media had to be approved by the government itself. They believed that if pictures of bombings or freak deaths were being illustrated in news papers the country would take a morale nose dive.

Many photos that expressed down ship and turns for the worst where used to the British advantage for example the raids on North London houses, the tenants where photographed beside the destroyed buildings with a caption that expresses that the tenants had courage and determination to fight the British cause. This sent a frightful message back to the Germans telling them that the British where in no way fazed by the German attacks. This in turn lowered German Morale because there efforts where branded useless.

The Germans also used media to keep the morale of its people up, in many ways the German where copying the British and counter attacking every move that they were making. This may have made the war last longer in many respects because both sides believed that they where in good condition and still raring to be the victor. But in others it could have ended
