Global Warming.

Global warming is a huge issue throughout the world today. Many believe it is caused by humans and our ways of life, but threes is so much more involved. Our ozone layer has a huge (increasing) hole in it, and it is constantly getting bigger, because of the fumes, other chemicals, and the energy some of our everyday materials put off. For example, lights, aerosol cans car exgust, huge mills, and deforestation, just to name a few. Al Gore’s theory is that if we as people (especially this generation) will suffer huge repercussions if we do not change our life styles. We have recently discovered, Icecaps, glaciers, and sea levels are rising and melting much faster than ever expected. Eventually causing many materials and things the earth provides not reachable, because our planet is slowly dying.

There are a lot of different theories floating around about the causes of global warming. Some very likely answers that scientists have come up with are as follows:

• Increasing greenhouse gas are beginning to warm the planet

• Human activities are changing the composition of the globe, because

Of the access amounts of carbon Dioxide and the burning of fossil flues.

Greenhouse gases that are emitted by human activity remain in the atmosphere for vast periods of time, ranging from decades to centuries. Therefore it is almost nearly certain that the airs concentration of greenhouse gases will continue to rise over the next few decades. As a result of this scientists believe average global temperatures and sea levels will keep growing and precipitation patterns will change. The gases help the earth maintain its average temperature of 59*, because without greenhouse gases, the planets temp. would drop to about 0*.This is because many gases that occupy our atmosphere today hold heat, such as methane, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide(which makes up 80% of the gases). Humans relapse Carbon when we burn oil, natural gas, and coal that is used in many power plants, homes and factories, deforestation is also a major cause of carbon. Greenhouse gases soak up a lot of the suns inferred rays preventing them from being able to escape back into space.

In 2005 America expericened an all time high in temperature changes, which dry out soil, that needs to hold in moisture in order for healthy crops to grow. Scientists conclude that if this pattern does not stop then in less than fifty years, vast areas of farmland will dry out. Also due to the drier soil and leaves, wildfires are much more common. Also, since warmer air produces more lightning, which is also another leading cause of wildfires. Another effect that shows the planet is changing is the earth’s storm patterns coming in much greater forces, like recent tornados, hurricanes, and floods. As the climate gets warmer, disease-carrying species move into new places, making germs and versus easier to spread because colder climates keep many harmful germs at bay.

The United States makes up about a quarter of the earth’s greenhouse gases, while all of Africa only makes up about 5%. In addition, just because we cannot see the gases itself, we can see the impact that they have on other places far away. The Arctic icecap plays a very important role is cooling our entire planet, but the cap is shrinking due to global warming, and recent studies prove that at the rate we emit greenhouse gases, the Arctic ice will completely disappear little by little each summer. Many arctic animals are suffering harshly because of this; such as the polar bears which are dying out slowly because, in order for them to eat they have to swim
