An effective peace treaty is very important to today's society. The reason I say that, is because not everyone gets along these days. And without set rules, and boundaries that are made in peace treaties, everyone would be at war with each other. So peace treaties are what we have, so that when a war has came to an end, you make the rules and boundaries for both sides of the war. If they aren't followed, there are more than likely going to be some harsh consequences which may result in going back to war. So hopefully people follow what they had agreed on, so they don't cause more issues, or even cause bigger problems.

The Potsdam Agreement is a great example of an effective treaty. The reason is because, when they set the terms of the war, the terms actually worked. For example, one of the terms was that all of the Nazi criminals had to be tried in court, and right after the war they were tried. Another example is that the Nazi empire had to be non-existent, and sure enough, once the war was finished it was for the most part done. The last example is, that ever since the last world war, all of the countries have obeyed the terms. This is great because there hasn't ever been a world war since then, and as long as people obey the terms, everything should be okay.

The second, and last example is the Treaty of Portsmouth. This treaty is also a great example of an effective peace. The reason that this is such a great example is because ever since the war, the two nations haven't fought, and they all now live in peace. One of the reasons that they all live in peace is because of the treaty of course, but its also because of the terms that were made for both countries during the making of the treaty. One of the terms that made this so effective is the immediate cease of fire. This is probably the most important of the terms, because without this they'd still be fighting today.
