Commusism Vs. Capitalism

The debate of communism versus capitalism is one of great proportions. These two systems of government dominate the world today, with most countries favoring the freedom of capitalism over the uniformity of communism throughout the world.

The definition of communism is an ideology that seeks to establish a future classless, stateless social organization, based upon common ownership of the means of production and the absence of private property. It can be classified as a branch of the broader socialist movement. Communism also refers to a variety of political movements which claim the establishment of such a social organization as their ultimate goal. Communism was established by Karl Marx and it first took over in the Russian Revolution in 1917. When most people think of communism today, they think of Russia, however, many other nations also adopted the system. Some of the other countries in the world today that use communism are Cuba, North Korea, and China. Communism looks like a great idea on paper, and there are many good things about it, but in the real world there are many disadvantages. There is hardly any economic opportunity at all and free choices are very limited. On the flipside, everybody has a job that helps work for the common good, not their personal lives.

Capitalism is defined as an economic system in which the means of production are owned mostly privately, and capital is invested in the production, distribution and other trade of goods and services, for profit in a competitive free market. These include factors of production such as land and other natural resources, labor and capital goods. Various theories have tried to explain what capitalism is, to justify, or critique the private ownership of capital, and to explain the operation of markets and guide the application or elimination of government regulation of property and markets.
