Political Theories of Fascism and Communism

Define the political theories of fascism and communism, and then describe their major differences.

Communism is when no one can own private property because everyone is put into one social class and Fascism is when one supreme leader takes control of the all aspects of a nation.

a. How has each of these theories been carried out in the 20th century?

In Nazi Germany many people were attracted by the idea that violence can solve many of the nations problems. In Italy many people did not react negatively due to fear and many business men did not disapprove because the country was economically strengthening. In Japan, the economic control was maintained by was zaibatsu.

b. Where, when, and by whom?

In the 1930s, Italy was taken over by Mussolini, Germany by Adolf Hitler and Japan had also become a dominant nation that had adopted western technology and cultures

1. Make a comprehensive list of the events in Europe and outside that are said to have led to WW II.

France allies with Poland to defend Poland and Czechoslovakia in case of a future attack, German, Japan, and Italy had adopded dictatorship, national planning and militarization, Civil War broke out in Spain, Germany left the league of nations and invaded Austria. Germany then took over Czechoslovakia. Germany then invaded Poland. Russia attacked Finland and was removed from the Leage.

a. Which countries comprised axis and ally powers?

Austria, Italy, Germany, Sicily, Romianis, Bulgaria

b. What was the non-aggression pact between USSR and Germany? When was it broken?

A secret protocol of the the treaty was an agreement to divide up Poland between them if the territory were ever to be conquered. It was broken on June 22, 1941.

c. When did the USA join the WW II and on what grounds?

December 8 because Japan bombed the US at Pearl Harbor destroying many ports, and killing more than 2000.

d. What is considered as turning points in the eastern and western fronts and Pacific War?

e. Why was it called a “total war”?

It involved the entire populations and economies of the nations that fought it.

f. What were the new technological advancements used in the war, which made it farm more deadly as compared with WW I?
