1. Research Question: Will it rain In Vancouver today?

2. Response Variable: Binary Categorical Response Variable: Yes (1) and No(0)

3. Quantitative Explanatory Variable: temperature difference between max and min temperature on that day

a. If we get to know if there is an association between the temperature difference and rain with a certain constraint that the difference in temperature (>5 degrees) then there is a probability of rain.

4. If we accurately predict the chance of rain by using temperature difference, it can:

• It can help weather forecasting organizations to be more accurate with their predictions which would in turn help news channels and weather applications on mobile phones and the web.

• In a lot of sports analytics companies, weather forecast is leveraged to better plan sports events and plan special shows if the stadium roofs need to be in place in an open stadium like Rogers Arena, BC place. We assume that such stadiums usually measure temperature daily.

• Vancouver ship authority and airports who measure temperature daily can use this model to predict the chances of rain as ships cannot dock during rains due to low visibility. Also, airport traffic control at YVR can prepare themselves for slower traffic and landing/take-off delays.
