How important is religion today in comapared to science?

'We need religion but really it's just something to calm us down. Like music'

Nowadays, as soon as the smoothening word 'religion' is uttered people conjure images calculating created by the media, often this is associated with injustice, discrimination and distortion: they think of 'distrustful Muslims', the 9/11 incident, which despite media reports and so-called 'evidence' has not yet verified that Muslim 'terrorist' elites were the culprits of such a crime; they also think of the London bombings which again have accused 'terrorising Muslims' to be the suspect of. Furthermore, the media: they illustrate a common suspect of a suicide bombing who barbarically and unsurprisingly is male, young and Muslim. Little do they think of the gulf War killing MILLIONS of innocent people; instead they resort to resenting the 'assassination' of THOUSANDS of Americans who themselves created the massacre, dying under one ominous bomb- it just had to be blamed on the Muslims, the religion they preach and the whole concept of religion itself. But what could possibly be their motive? Religious justice. The evidence? At one point they found a Quran in a car boot, however relevant that may be! It seems to me that all the evidence they have is one to commit blasphemy and disgrace towards the subject of religion. Also religion is now the main suspect of terrorism attacks, perhaps this is suggesting that religion itself is terrorising. If so, is religion like harmonic music or chaotic rock music? Considering my inquiries to genuine individuals it appears a devious disastrous delusion amongst the devils of our society! It appears the word 'religion' is not so smoothening after all, more suffocating, sickening and sly than so, it appears.

'Religion creates stereotypes'

What does or did religion mean? The dictionary definition claims it 'a system of belief and worship of a supernatural power of God'. Does this necessarily decide to devote itself to terrorists who are supposedly taunted with rewards once reading Heaven? To me- its is a no, to me religion is not suffocating nor unjust, to me religion is not about God and Conservative views on courtship; there is a rumour that portrayed in the media no but a few weeks ago that terrorist groups in a malicious mosque have been brainwashing young members to commit barbaric attacks, such bribes have been quoted as: 'if you commit terrorism, you will go to heaven to seventy-two virgins'. One individual quoted not exactly in these words, however: 'religion is stereotypical because as religion is preached it creates identities for example, we now think all Asians are rapists because of their conservative ways in courtship and the concept of arranged marriage; we all think the Orthodox Christians are lively, loud and optimistic in their practice; whilst we think Muslims are terrorist and Catholics dull.' We have to consider that no matter how religion is preached one would always misinterpret it, the Quran for instance has been interpreted by a great many people, some who have obviously concluded its meaning wrongly and some who have exaggerated the extent of its meanings and concept; we have to take into consideration that religion is not culture and nor is culture religion- it is not only Asians that have conservative views on courtship, our very diverse population in Britain pursue certain life activities differently and therefore when one custom is illustrated as such a way we assume all the customs are this way. I think that is why religion has been lost in its meanings, importance and value; people see the negative of how particular people preaching a particular religion pursue a culture and how that image is associated with the religion they purchase- religion is not culture and culture not religion; people are what creates injustice and not religion itself alone. According to the Human Rights Act, one may perform a religious custom such as sacrificing an animal; however we have to admit the concept of letting blood drip 'barbarically' appears to be repulsive but the meat we eat in burgers, our beef rolls and sausages, because its vulgarity is not known to us, we do not discriminate against it; it appears to me that our opinions appears to cloud our judgements on particular aspects in our society and that is why there our stereotypes and that is why there is discrimination and chaos. It is a right that all of us have to preach our beliefs but it is not seen to be right moralistically. Because we have such diverse cultures in our society and so many religions that our preached it is unclear of which of the religion or cultures are 'right' in its view- because of this people go on to become agnostics and atheists, because it is so unclear. But is religion power or something used to extort politics? Tony Blair and George Bush: power-obsessed politicians who I am sure are aware the 75 of the religious population consists of Muslims are objecting to religion so fervently that we are under their influence and not our own. In my opinion people do not acknowledge the true meaning of religion, they are too ignorant to do so but not ignorant enough of the media implication which feeds them commons views and furious ideas of particular religious elites creating havoc. It is not religion that creates havoc, however, it the people themselves. Therefore is religion powerful that it should be seen a threat by such politicians or is it so secular a society that decides it's purposeless?

Conclusively, people see religion as they do Muslims and having established religion 'dominated' by the 'terrorising' Islamic religion; religion itself is distrustful; it brings injustice, torture, refinements, self-rejection and restriction. 200 yeas ago, religion would have been regarded the sole factor to spiritual guidance, as if the guidance that in aristocrat s and peasants would be pointless due to extreme irrelevance once they are drowned in poverty and uprising in power and wealth; but religion
