The concept map shows all the aspects of the portfolio not including the application to the ATO, which is connected at the end of the Portfolio.

The concept map briefly summarises all the major aspects of the portfolio from the Abstract and Introduction through to all the individual aspects of the week-to-week learning’s the unit of Working in Professions. The major aspects include the Abstract, Introduction, The Main Body, which has been broken down into 5 main areas and a conclusion briefly mentioning the learning’s, and achievements that have been accomplished so far in Working in Professions.

Abstract

My learning over the past weeks in the unit Working in Professions have led to many findings. Some findings including major findings is the importance of communication within the workplace and how it improves efficiency and workplace happiness. This finding helps me gain better understandings of the workplace and the importance of having good communication skills to be able to improve my efficiency in the workplace as well as my happiness while working.

Another important finding I have made while studying in the unit of Working in Professions is how important technology is in most areas of the Global Workplace and how without technology many jobs would not exist in the workplace. This has also led me to find how important it is to be competent with technology to be eligible for specific jobs in the future.

Another finding that was made is the importance of having many skills that can help with your employability status. This is the skill that a person has that makes them more favourable from an employer’s perspective. It is important to have these workplace skills, as they will help improve your day-to-day workplace operations. Some of these skills include communications as stated above as they will help improve the efficiency of the work and help someone be happier in a workplace. As well as being able to communicate with other workers it is important to be able to use the necessary technology or equipment for the job at hand, as mentioned above since many jobs in the evolving workplace require the use of some sort of technology

These three points are the main and I believe the most important of my findings while researching and studying for working in professions. I believe they are all important, as they are all a crucial component of a successful and an efficient workplace.

Introduction

The portfolio is constructed of five main components, which have been ordered in the same order that they where studied in the topic Working in Professions. These five components that make the main body include:

• Professional bodies and Ethics
• Communication and the Workplace
• Employability Skills and Cultural Diversity
• Technology and Professional Practice

Each of these topics are major research areas which have been studied intensely over the time which I have been studying for the unit Working in Professions.

The Meaning of Work and the Global Workplace, this topic shows how there is no straight meaning or way of how to do work or what it is, as the workplace and the work is constantly changing as time passes and technology etc., keep moving forward. The week 1 topic had a second component, which included the study of the global workplace through the study the discovery of how the global workplace is ever evolving and is constantly improving itself to become cost-effective. This is briefly motioned in the Deloitte article, which talks about the future of the global workplace.

The topic of ‘Professional bodies and Ethics’ talks about the importance of the Professional bodies in the business world as well as their roles and how they regulate and help promote the members within their bodies, the Professional bodies make sure their members have the correct skills and requirements to join the body and then the professional body helps improve the career of the individuals who join. The topic also mentions Ethics, which are a crucial part of every workplace. Having a Code of Ethics is important to make sure no activities are conducted that could have a negative impact on the body or the specific group of people
