REFLECTION PAPER ON SIMULATION

We are six members in our team who are highly talented and skilled in various fields. A team with vast difference in culture, accent, thinking, educational background. At our first meet I thought that we could get together as a team but that turned out to be quite opposite. Initially when we met people were least bothered to introduce themself and started to discuss about the case. Once the case study was done we use to leave and till yesterday we were the same we never spoke nor met each other apart from team meetings and during class.

While this is the environment of our team two people each got along together and the team seemed more unconnected. Finally a day came where we all have to do together something more than usual case study i.e. simulation starting a company of our own. Even though it’s a game that’s a big challenge for us.

Started the simulation by watching the tutorial.

Sometimes Conflict is for good: In Q1 we started the discussion with giving our company a name where the decision was made in fifteen minutes and then here comes the first problem to choose a segment. We did a lot of Market Research and opted to go with Mercedes Segment.  

Role of Responsibility and Clarity: In Q2 as per the roles assigned we distributed our work and did our part. We developed product together with each person’s involvement. But due to lack of clarity our product didn’t sell out in the market for Q1 as we hired only 2salesman for Chicago thinking we should spend a budget of 80000$ for salesman whereas that limit is for advertising. Q1 results-4th place overall and 2nd place in Mercedes Segment.

Importance of Teamwork & Advertisement: In Q3 we expanded market in other countries and designed new products with required amount of salesman in each country. We provided additional rebate to increase the sales of the old product. Everyone started involving and giving out there ideas on how to increase the sales and promote the product. As Q2 advertising didn’t reach out to people clearly we decided to design ad together. As per the Q2 results we were in 3rd place overall and 1st place in Mercedes Segment.
