How IT helps you learn about a topic of personal or professional interest

Introduction

Since 21st Century, the development of information technology has become faster and faster. IT has brought about great changes in all aspects of our daily life, including basic necessities of life. Besides this, with the development of IT, our learning style has also changed greatly. In the traditional study, we can listen to the teacher in the school and we can go to the library to consult the relevant books and periodicals. When I cannot understand the knowledge in certain fields, we can communicate and discuss with our classmates. However, all of these has changed in the information age.

For my own interest, I have had a strong interest in the concept of justice in the law. What is the meaning of justice in law? When we face a dilemma, what exactly is fair? I try to find the answers to these questions by myself. In this process, IT has helped me a lot by various ways.

The library used to be the place with the greatest amount of knowledge before the age of information. We are used to go to the library to read books, periodicals and other publications to learn knowledge. However, with the coming of information age, IT has given us a new tool - search engine to acquire knowledge effectively. We can say that search engines are one of the most visited sites in the world. Search engine is based on the use of certain strategies and specific computer programs to collect information from the Internet. It can provide efficient search service for users. I search through the Google by the keywords of justice and law, and get a lot of useful websites. These sites give me many wealthy learning materials.

Listen to master's voice of a master by online open courses

In my study of school, I am used to listen to the teacher. As a result, when I tried to study the justice in the law, I first thought about whether I could find some courses. Therefore, I tried to acquire courses by Google. The search engine recommended me an open courses at Harvard University – “justice, what should we do?” This course is supplied by Michael J. Sandel, the fellow of American Academy of Arts and Sciences. This course deliberate the basic issues about justice, equality, democracy and civil rights in depth. Finally, I acquired the course of authoritative experts from the world's most prestigious universities at home. We can say that IT gives me the opportunity to access to the authority courses on the issue of justice, and makes it easier for me to acquire knowledge.

Communicate with people around the world in the online forums

Different people have different views and opinions on the same knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to be continuous to communicate and discuss with people having different background and knowledge. The understanding of knowledge will be more comprehensive and thorough by this way. In the past, I can only discuss with my classmates. But with the help of IT, I can communicate and discuss with people from different countries, different nationalities, different races and people with different background on the online forum. They have a wide variety of views on justice in law, and they have different opinions to the same topic. I have deepened the understanding of the problem of justice in the continuous discussion and communication.
