The Great Gatsby

In the book “the great Gatsby” by Scott Fitzgerald there are

many themes yet there is one theme that sticks out. In each of

the characters we see a dream. Each of these characters are

guilty of corrupting their own dreams with their own actions. The

American dream is that anyone no matter who they are can

achieve whatever they want as long as they work hard to achieve

that goal whatever it may be. This book shows what generally

happened to the American dream in the 1920’s.

the corruption of the American dream is shown in Gatsby, In

myrtle, And in George.

While this man seemed to “have it all” and was very happy, Gatsby

Really was not happy at all. This man is nothing but a fraud.

When people go to his extravagant parties they sometimes wonder

who this Gatsby character is. He would throw all of these

Expensive parties and supply alcohol to anyone who came. Mind you

In the 1920’s there was ban on alcohol being consumed and having

it at parties. Having it there brought forth questions of where he

managed to get his hands on enough for everyone at his parties

from. Gatsby found this lady who attended his partys who he

wanted
