Duty based ethic Deontological ethics is the focus on rightness or wrongness of the action itself rather than the consequences of those actions. This theory stresses that fidelity to principle and duty are the most important. The consequence of an action does not matter. What matters is that the act itself is right, that one does one's duty. C- I believe people should be able to eat sand because eating sand is the right thing to do. A company lays off hundreds of employee so that they can fund an experimental product. The result is to have a new product to offer, no consideration is made to the impact on employees

Goal based ethics Goal-Based ethics say that we ought to do whatever maximizes good consequences. It doesn't in itself matter what kind of thing we do. What matters is that we maximize good results.
