Assignment #2: “Informative Essay”

Orlando Criswell

ENG 115- English Composition

Professor Tiffani Edinger

May 8, 2017

The topic that I will be researching is the cause and effect of maintaining a personal budget. I struggle greatly in this department so it is my hope that I can learn something as well as other people on how it could affect you in many ways if you don’t have and maintain a personal budget. Having a personal budget benefit’s you in so many ways. Budgeting for Success is a concern because of how you spend, control, and save.

It has been shown that the way an individual spend is because of his or her income site their need for things in general (Shin, 2016). If your expenses exceed your income you will have to cut expense or increase your income.  Focus on decreasing your expenses.  The trick is doing this without depriving yourself of items or services you truly need.     Make a list of things you feel you can't live without, and whittle down your other expenses to accommodate them. If you make room for at least some things you love must, you're much more likely to succeed at your plan.

Once you figure this out you will then be able to figure out how much money goes to every item.  You have to know your limitation on spending or your budget will be a waste of time. In doing this it will allow you to create a budget plan.

When one has a strict budget plan in place, it becomes less stressful on any individual. One will see that they even have some extra spending money left over after the other important stuff has been taken care of. Although creating a budget was easy, maintain its the hard part. A lot of people, like me, are very bad with money. I think I'm on of those people that need to have a strict budget and learn how to stick to it. Once the budget is made up all you have enough self-control with your money and spending habits to stick to it (Shin, 2016).

Sticking to your personal budget can sometimes become stressful. It takes a lot of will power to stick to your budget. You just have to keep telling yourself that you have to pay your bills and take care of your family before anything else. This is what honestly helped me. I have two small children and bills to pay. If I didn’t have and stick to a personal budget, my kids wouldn’t get the diapers and clothes and food that they need and my kids and I would be sitting in a dark cold house with no water. Sometimes you have to think about other people when making decisions like this. Sometimes thinking about yourself isn’t enough to make people change their lifestyle. When I had kids, I had to draw up a personal budget and literally force myself to stick to it because I knew if I didn’t, my kids would have a horrible life that they didn’t ask for.
