Reflection paper two

                                Operation Coyote

The reason I chose operation Coyote as a name is because for many years the Native Americans were always associated with that name because it’s the North American animal that has Native American origins. I think some programs that could be put into place to help alleviate poverty and suffering on reservations are programs that help with hunger, shelter and maybe even toiletries/accessories such as clothing, household products and grooming essentials. I think American society can do a lot to help. I don’t want to focus on one specific thing however; I want to focus on all things that I mentioned in one.

In this program food, shelter, clothing, household products and toiletries will be included in my program. The first thing I would focus on is food. To implement the food program I would tell my church about it first and then other churches so that they can get involved to help bring food to the churches and then we could disburse to the Native American families. I would call food pantries and soup kitchens and have them get involved for instance Feeding America is a nationwide network of food banks fighting hunger. It is a network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal program that provides food and services to people each year. There network serves virtually every community in all 50 states. I would also contact grocery stores and local food markets and have a meeting with the general manager to see if maybe they can donate some food as well. Lastly, I would contact farmers that grow healthy foods to give to the reservations.

When it comes to shelter I would contact housing programs such as Section 8 or the low income management companies to see if they can build some buildings where the Native Americans live to establish secure shelter. I would get in contact with the habitat company which is a non-profit Christian ministry that builds with people in need regardless of race or religion; we welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds. They have more than 1,500 local affiliates in the United States and more than 70 national organizations around the world. I think they can help build homes/apartment buildings that they can stay in.
