Coca Cola

Due to its robust supply chain and delivery/distribution systems, Coca-Cola has achieved the impossible: being able to deliver a can of coke to every corner of Earth. We propose to apply Coca-Cola’s methods to design a system that uses the soft drink giant’s considerable logistical capabilities to fulfil humanitarian needs, particularly in disaster situations. To that end, our project will focus on how the Coca-Cola CSR team can help humanitarian/emergency disaster organizations to facilitate the delivery of food, water, and supplies to hard to reach communities and catastrophe zones. What contingency plans can Coca-Cola emplace to help build distribution systems customized specifically to NGO’s supply chains for humanitarian needs during an emergency? These plans would not affect Coca-Cola’s day-to-day operations or existing network, substantially. However, during an emergency, several triggers would be activated and logistical plans enacted to enable life-saving actions in partnership with humanitarian organizations and agencies. In our project, we would explore the needs of humanitarian agencies (logistically), the compatibility of Coca-Cola’s supply chains with those needs, and create a plan that would easily allow a humanitarian mission to utilize Coca-Cola’s considerably robust distribution network.
