When Santa was useful

In a small town south from Carolina lived a beautiful couple. They were expecting the first child and were due 2 days before Christmas. Their names where Mary Louise and josh. They had just moved from New York where the met each other in High school to start a family of their after being high school sweethearts for a very long time.

It was a tough time of their lives. Their pregnancy was not planed and they were facing financial problems by the time the found out that they were expecting. Every Sunday they went to church and they were strong believers in Christ. Every time in church, Mary Louise asked for one thing while praying to God, which was the wellbeing of her family. Josh also prayed a lot and was a strong believer in Santa too. He came from a small neighborhood where Christmas was a big tradition and where everyone believed in Santa. Therefore, while Mary Louise was praying for her family he only had one wish and that was to meet Santa Clause. Days went by and Christmas was getting close. It was 17th December and it was Josh’s birthday.  Most of Josh and Mary Louise’s family had travelled from afar to celebrate his birthday and with them was one special guest Josh’s mother. She was a huge lover of Christmas and always loved to celebrate Josh’s birthday because it was so close to Christmas. When she arrived, she jumped out of the car with a round cake the size of a football with 29 candles on because Josh was turning 29. After a while, they all gathered around the table for dinner. Josh always sat beside his little niece Aria who always held her knife and fork in the wrong hand and did not know whether the Spoon in front of her was for dessert of salad. After eating, Josh’s mom brought the cake out of the refrigerator and lite up the candles so Josh could blow them out and make a wish.

‘’go on! Blow them out’’ Josh’s mom yelled ‘’you only get to blow out the candles once a year you know?’’ josh smiled and looked up to Mary Louise who was sitting on the other side and touched her belly to feel their unborn child. ‘’use it wisely’’ she whispered into his ears. And before they knew it, Josh closed his eyes, blew out the candles and wished. ’’What did you wish for?’’ Mary Louise asked ‘’it is a secret I will not tell’’ he answered and giggled.

After that, Josh’s mother put on some Christmas music and together they started decorating the house for Christmas and brought in the Christmas tree. Josh got to put the star on top of the tree because it was his birthday. Night came and everyone went home. Josh went to sleep with a smile on his face. When Christmas day came, Mary Louise contractions got worse and Mary Louise had to go to the hospital. But there was a huge snowstorm and there had been warnings from radio stations and the news that I wasn’t safe to go outside. Josh started to pray and called out for Santa asking him to help him just this one time. And suddenly he appeared. ‘’You called out for me my son’’ he said. Josh could not believe what he was seeing so I turned to Mary Louise to ask if she could see him too and she could. Santa said to them that he was there to help them get through the storm and to the hospital safely. And with just a nap of his fingers, the storm magically stopped. Josh and Mary Louise rushed to the hospital to meet there child just after thanking Santa.
