1. What is Freud’s Psychodynamic Theory? Be sure to explain Freud’s three structures of personality and defense mechanism in your answer (3 points).

This theory is the part of our unconscious mind which consists of our id and superegos and it repetitively conflicts with the conscious part of our mind.  It creates anxiety, which can even be dealt by the justification of our ego’s appliance. The personality can be shaped as the initiatives that are reformed by different conflicts at different times in our childhood. If we consider the ID it is very important part of our early life. It consists of all our desires and needs. If we consider the ego it is the component of our personality that deals with our reality. If we consider the superego it helps one to make judgments.

2. Explain the difference between projective measures of personality and self-report. Which do you think is more reliable (3 points)?

The projective measure of personality helps one to respond to ambitious stimuli, and it reveals one’s hidden emotions and their internal struggle. Well on the other hand, Self-report helps person to answer the questions for themselves without anyone’s interference, by which they get their result of their personality.  I think self-report is more reliable according to me as we know ourselves better than other know us.

3. What is the Person/Situation debate? What do modern social and personality psychologists think today? Provide an example of a time where you “violated” your personality type because of the situation at hand (3 points).

The Person/ Situation debate refers to the person or the situation which is more influential to his/ hers behavior. Personality Psychologist think that people have reliable personalities that make them who they are.  Social psychologist think that people’s personalities are not reliable enough to react and it is to be kind of the same from situation to situation. I can’t really think of the time where I for my part violated my personality type, but I think an example that best suites this is if you were a shy person who never wear short dresses and all of a sudden you put on a short dress. I think that would be like disrespecting your personality. As this is not who you are it makes you someone different.

4. What are the Big 5 personality traits? List each trait and briefly describe what each one means (3 points).

Openness – open to new ideas, resourceful, inspired

Consciousness – dependable, need to be organized, what to do when.

 Extraversion – talkative, I am outgoing, socializing.

Agreeable – tolerant, subtle, kind.

Neuroticism – anxious, short-tempered, sullen.
