Amazon Amazon

Seattle-based Amazon is doubling its bets on the ecosystem of AWS and Alexa, an AI assistant. It wants to be the core provider of AI as a service, but it won't leave the retail business behind. It also runs grocery stores, bookstores and convenience stores across the United States. Today, Amazon is not only an all-around store, but also a leader in consumer-oriented artificial intelligence and Enterprise Cloud services.

The next pillar of Amazon is artificial intelligence. In a letter to shareholders in April 2017, Bezos made extensive explanations on AI and machine learning.

Voice, virtual assistants and natural language processing will continue to be the focus of Amazon's attention, but the company also focuses on AI services, handing basic tools of AI to cloud computing and the developer community.

Amazon is also betting on health care, investing in cancer testing company GRAIL, and working with companies such as JPMorgan Chase to provide better health insurance for employees. Amazon is eager to become a platform company than ever before.

Amazon is building a valuable ecosystem around Alexa Voice Computing Platform. Currently, the Alexa platform provides software development kits (SDKs) that allow third-party developers to build new skills for Alexa and other hardware manufacturers and integrate Alexa's assistants into their products. In addition to voice technology, Alexa Fund and Accelerator have also increased their investment in mobile hardware. Recently, Amazon also acquired two Alexa-supported smart home companies: Blink (fourth quarter of 17 years) and Ring (first quarter of 18 years).

All in all, Amazon's investment focuses on more forward-looking businesses across multiple industries, including healthcare, voice, the Internet of Things and communication platforms. Most of these investments are related to the AWS ecosystem, which now includes voice, artificial intelligence, development tools and cloud computing.

Google Google

Google's strategy: to bet the future on artificial intelligence, cloud services and "lunar landing plan", its focus areas are cloud computing, artificial intelligence, virtual reality technology, hardware and so on. Among them, AI is the main line that runs through Google, including driverless cars, enterprise clouds and its new smartphone product line.

Pushing Cloud and Hardware: This is Alphabet's area of growth beyond advertising, driven by R&D, acquisition and investment. Focus on industries capable of becoming revenue and profit centers, such as high-end mobile and smart home hardware, especially cloud and enterprise services. Apigee is one of Google's biggest acquisitions since Nest, a publicly listed company called the Cloud Company.

"AI-first" strategy: The company is using its AI/machine learning expertise, including through the acquisition of DeepMind to absorb expertise, to separate its products from search and advertising, overall consumer Web services and other Alphabet units. Google's new high-end mobile phones and smart home devices are the exclusive sales points for some of these services.
