Ever since the days of black and white television shows such as, “I Love Lucy,” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” government officials and parents alike have questioned the morality of the images being broadcasted into our home. Over four decades later the same question of morality is still inexistence. However the problems have evolved. There is no longer the question, “should the television husband and wife sleep in the same bed?” The question has evolved into; when does the depiction of sexuality become inaccurate, and how much does it influence me and everyone else?

With television evolving as well as the questions and the problems it processes we must decide if the networks have gone too far. Has the networks crossed a moral line? Have we as a public become so use to the sexual displays through animation, jokes, or just plain images of sex, that we have passed a point of no return?

First, consider the accuracy of what you hear. Would it be on the big screen or on the television at home sex is everywhere. Sexuality has evolved into a misunderstanding. Through the jokes of stand up comedians, advertisements, and other misleading statements on the screen the idea of the typical man and woman have became inaccurate. The false impressions have misled a nation in believing false stereotypes about men and mainly women. The beer commercials that appeal to a man’s desire shows women unrealistically doing whatever it is the man wants, or the appeal to males being a desirable need for any woman, just because he is wearing certain cologne. These are just two examples of the misleading of sexuality in America today. There are so many more.

Second consider the impact of the sexuality in children. First ask yourself why that parent’s subject their children to educational programming such as, “Noggin?” The answer lies in the child’s brain. The brain of a young person has been said to, “be like a sponge, its soaks up everything.” So a child subjected to unlimited control of the remote control everyday
