Abstract

Full Sail University focuses on technology and has been opened since the 1970’s. The university is nationally known even with its pros and cons. The culture of the university varies and has its ups and downs just like any other university or organization. Management has to create ways to solve the problems that the university have and will go through. The faculty and staff of the university can make an environment either positive or negative and the administration of Full Sail University must make sure everything is done to restructure its image.

Full Sail University Culture

Pros

Culture can be either negative or positive and like all universities there are pros and cons. Full Sail University is not immune of problems but I will begin with the pros. For decades the university has prepared students for life after college. It is accredited and has won numerous awards. The universities most recent accomplishment was in 2011 when they won the “College of The Year” in Florida. The school seems to be a choice of many military vets. In 2009 the university was named as Veteran-Friendly School of the Year. The criteria for admissions, customer service, and programs are factors that contributed to the award. Full Sail was pushed in the music spotlight recently due to graduates from the university mixing award winning Grammy Award artists (Calhoun, 2011). The school also keeps expanding; in 2011 the school unveiled a media server curriculum to attract even more diverse students and allows for more hands on experience to better prepare students in the technology world (Full Sail University Expands Media Server Curriculum; Acquires Assortment of Hippotizer Gear, 2011).

Cons

The major complaint of students who attend and have attended Full Sail University is the lack of interaction during orientation. The university is mass oriented and students are only seen through appointments. There have been many complaints from students who cannot financial counselors because they were out of town on vacation because they received a bonus for signing up students to the university. This made students disgruntled and caused problems with receiving checks on time (“Amazing Education, Horrible Funding Issues”, 2012, December 27). The students felt that the faculty did not live up to his or her expectations and that led to a lack of respect towards teachers, counselors, etc. Full Sail University was accused of taking financial aid two months prior of school beginning from a student which prevented him for receiving financial aid from 2012 spring semester (Munecita, 2011).
