The Tortoise and the Hare

The Tortoise and The Hare had the biggest impact on me when I was younger. A line from the fable that really made sense after I got older was "How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?" "The Tortoise and The Hare", showed me at a young age why you shouldn't take your talents for granted, show off ,not use them and instead take things at a slow and steady pace.

First life lesson I pulled away from this childhood fable was that you shouldn't waste your talents that are given to you . In the fable the Hare knew he was the fastest and could beat anyone. Instead of running the race and finishing the race he decides that he is going to waste his great talent of running to take a nap, because he knew that the Tortoise was horrible racer. I took this into my day to day life to mean two things. First in the sport of baseball just because I start hitting well in games that doesn't mean I should stop doing my day to day batting practice. First being that its bad sportsmanship which causes teams and indiviuals to hate you. Second being it can get you punished by your school for giving them a bad image. If I ever wanted to hang out with other teams after matches or keep from getting out of trouble I think of that lesson. That's why I always shake hands after a swim race or wrestling match. The last life
