Eunice Williams was called the "unredeemed captive" not because her farther did not try to get her away from her captives, but because of the fact that she did not want to go back home.

All of the children were brought back to their home except Eunice. She was adopted by an Indian tribe, and lost all her English and converted to Catholicism. Along with all of this Eunice marries one of the Indian Boys and soon will have a family of her own. There is not a single clear reason as to Eunice would want to live this way for the rest of her life even after her father had come to the village to get her back home with the rest of the family; this could be due to the fact that when Eunice was younger her father had come to the village to get her back home but he had failed her.

There are so many questions as to why she wanted to remain an "unredeemed captive". Maybe Eunice felt a sense of freedom with the tribe than she did when she was back at home; maybe there were just too many things back home that she did not want to go back to. But the fact still remains that the only reason Eunice Williams was named the unredeemed captive, as not by her families fault and trying to get her to come back home but due to her own will and choice that she wanted to remain a captive in this society that had treated her so well over the past few years.
