The Misconception of the Monster Child

People always perceive the creature in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus as a vicious monsterous freak. The creation of Victor Frankenstein is constantly seen preforming violent acts, and is referred to as a belligerent, incompetent being. The monster wants nothing more than to be accepted by society and to live the most normal life possible, however he lets his irrational thinking get the best of him. The truth of the matter is that the monster is just like a child.

The monster, like babies, had time to reach a peak of growth before birth.  The monster was planned, and parts of the monster had to be gathered in order for a humanesque creature to be made. Babies obviously do not need their body parts collected and fused together, other than the gametes that come together to create a zygote.  Eventually, the monster and a baby would come to reach a full term and the time to prepare for bitch comes. There are differences between the birth of the monster and human babies. A human baby will be born of fresh new parts that they themselves developed while in the womb. Unlike the monster, they will not be born of mixed parts that form a human stature. Electricity and other sciences are not used to give life to the new creation, as babies are already living before birth.

The monster also relates to children in the sense that both need to learn to do basic human skills, such as talking and walking. A baby does not come straight out the womb doing these things. While most babies may not learn to walk and talk around eight to twelve months old, the monster did however know a few words, but most of them were harsh grunts. The monster still had to watch surroundings to pick up on skills and to better them. This is just like a child, as surroundings will influence the things the say, the things they do, and the way they act. The monster's surroundings were harsh and cold because of all the hatred, violence, and lack of love he experienced, and it is then what he became to portray.
