The essay focuses on the life of Alberto Giacometti who was born in a little village of Borgonovo on October 10, 1901. Giacometti spent his first school year in the village of Stampa and he was mainly instructed by his father Giovanni Giacometti. Giacometti childhood life was not bad; he became familiarized with working in the atelier though his father. The painter Cuno Amiet, who is Giacometti godfather that taught him the most important skills and techniques involving painting; members of his family assisted Giacometti by posing for him as model and that allowed him to progress as an artist. He developed his drawing style mainly through portraiture.

Giacometti decided to drop out of school to devote his life to art. He moved to Geneva to join the School of Fine Arts. When he visited Venice and Rome around 1920 he gained a deep passion for the work of Tintoretto and Giotto. Giacometti resolved to recover the innocent gaze of man’s origins through primitive art and anthropology. Around 1922 he moved to Paris to attend courses of sculptor and to do a little experiment with the cubist method. His brother Diego assisted him in Paris and from there he became his assistance helper.

Giacometti lived in the creative community of Montparnasse and he associated with many artists such as Joan MirÐ"Ñ-, Max Ernst, and Pablo Picasso. Giacometti mostly focuses his sculpting on the human head.

He lived in the safety of Geneva where he met Annette Arm around the time of World War II. In 1946 Giacometti and Arm went back to Paris and they got married. Giacometti's most productive period followed the marriage. His wife provided him with the opportunity to constantly to be in touch with another human body, particularly a feminine one. Models who had posed for him found it a difficult job, but patiently sat for him for hours until he achieved what he wanted.

He soon had an exhibition of his works at the Gallery Maeght in Paris and at the Pierre Matisse Gallery in New York. Obsessed with creating his sculptures exactly as he envisioned through his unique view of reality,
