The Doors

In 1965 one of the most famous bands, "the Doors" was created at the beach by Venice beach. "The Doors" became one of the premier acts of the late 1960s.

The members were Jim Morrison, who was singing, on the guitar Robbie Krieger, the drummer John Dencemore and Manzarek playing the organ.

At first they arose on birthday or weddings. Then came the day where they signed an contract with Columbia, which was dessolved after a short time.

The Doors played for little money in pub called "London Fog", where they devoloped their unmistakable music style.

In the first time Jim Morrison sang with the back to the public, because of his shyness. Therefore it is hardly to imagine if you think of one of his later performaces.

Afterwards they performed in "Whiskey-A-Go-Go", in which they played the legendary song "The end".

But after some time the members of "The Doors" had to go, because of too much alcohol und wild drug parties.

Finally Elektre records took the band under contract and this was the beginning

of a long successful

partnership

In 1967 they published their debut album "Like my fire", which became a mojor hit.

Many of the songs made by The Doors were done in a communal way, reflected Manzarek, with Morrison usually contributing the lyrics and some melody, while the others hammered out the beat and flow of the song.

Important for the popularity of the band was the organ play (keine ahnung wie man orgalspiel ÑŒbersetzt lol) of Manzarek and the very speciel singer Jim Morrison.
