-"Who doesn't want a shortcut to greatness" - President Jackson Evans-

In this paper I will clearly explain Senator Hansen's loom from the movie "The Contender" in dealing with the scandal, balance and similarity Senator Hanson's scandal with Jack Ryan also his brief U.S. Senate candidacy, judge whether or not Senator Hanson and Jack would have (or should have) benefited from being totally open at the beginning of there scandal.

Senator Hanson's was impeccable over the way she handled the sex scandal the press, Congress and the American people judgment. "The People of this nation can stomach quite a bit. But the one thing they can't stomach is the image of a vice president with a mouthful of cock" (Lurie "The Contender). When Kermit said that to Mrs. Hanson it set up the conflict for the rest of the movie, & how it was going to affect the way Mrs. Hanson handled herself & her dignity? "I'm not going to comment on the whole thing it's beneath me and it's beneath the press" (Lurie "The Contender"). Mrs. Hanson tried to run away from the sex scandal that happen on American Live & with Shelly Runyon believed that his word was the right word. Shelly will stop at nothing to derail Hanson's chances for the vice presidency. Hanson finds herself embroiled in a battle where she is hampered by her own high ethical standards while her opponents have no such handicaps. "If I were a man, nobody would care how many sexual partners I had in college and if it wasn't relevant for a man, then it's not relevant for a woman" (Lurie "The Contender") telling Congressman Reginald Webber why she isn't fighting the battle. Mrs. Hanson approached her sex scandal differently then Jack Ryan did. They were asked by their party if anything happened & both lied to their parties and to the voters.

Jack Ryan & his political running came to a standstill with lies, over his judgment for the Senate. During the running of 2004 Senate race, Jack Ryan was faced with Democrat Barack Obama & had a passion to win the race, but wasn't passion to confess about his uncultivated past. Shelly Runyon said, "I do. What I say the American people will believe. And do you know why? Because I have a very big microphone in front of me". (Lurie "The Contender") Jack Ryan believed that the American people would forget about his deviant past was brought up to the public eye, which came out in his devoiced paper. Ryan said "he believed voters would not hold the allegations against him"., "I think that when voters look into their hearts and minds and say, 'Can we trust this fellow Jack Ryan, or does he try to do the best he can, or is he in this job for the right reasons?' I think they'll see that same sincerity to try do the right thing, though knowing that in the end that I am human and I do fail." (Mercurio and Bisney- Cnn.com) The voters and Judy Baar Topinka had seen a different side to Jack's story. During the Jack Ryan sex scandal happen he was ask by Judy Baar Topinka said that she asked him flatly whether there was anything embarrassing in the file. Topic said Ryan assumer her there was not. (Chase and Ford "Chicago Tribune") Topinka is furious & believes Ryan lied to her in an earlier discussion. A source close to the state treasurer said: "She asked point blank during the conversation whether there was anything embarrassing in there, and he said no"( Fornek and Mckinney "Chicago Sun-Times"), later Jack Ryan had to resigned from the candidate of senator. Mrs. Hanson was the verbal abuse on congress & with the media Just like Jack Ryan was toward his lies & deviant past. Mr. Runyon posted the source of the internet story on a drudge report web site about the senator sexual romp in college which started the debate
