The Client

The Client begins with a very poor family consisting of a single mother and her two young mischievous boys. As the mother goes off to work one morning she tells her children not to be playing in the woods. Seeing as to how young boys have a hard time listing they take to their journey into the woods soon as mom is out of sight.

As they venture into the woods the boys see a car drive down an old dirt road, it is from this moment that the young boys lives will be changed forever. The man in the car is attempting to commit suicide by carbon monoxide poison. The older brother sneaks up to the car and removes the hose in attempt to save the life of the man, but the man realizes something's not right and steps out of the car and reinserts the hose. The boy makes a second attempt but is caught trying to do so and forced into the car with the man. The man introduces himself to the boy as Jerome Clifford. Jerome then begins to tell boy the cause of him committing suicide. He tells the boy he is an attorney and if he does not kill himself another man named Berry "The Blade" Muldano will. The Blade was one of Jerome's clients who was about to go on trial for the murder of senator Boyed Boyette. The reason The Blade wanted Jerome dead was due to the fact that Jerome knew where The Blade had hidden the body of the senator. While Jerome is talking the boy "Mark Sway" manages to escape from the car and he and his brother are chased through the woods by Jerome. The boys succeed in hiding, But out of options under the influence of

alcohol Jerome proceeds to place a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger. The horrific events the boys witness sends the younger brother in to a state of shock. The boy is rushed to the hospital as Mark is questioned by police. Mark tells police that he did not talk to Jerome Clifford before he died, that he just stumbled upon the body in the woods. When the officer tells Mark the name of the man Mark says he has never herd that name. Then later on in their conversation Mark refers to Jerome as "Romey", which was a nick name Jerome told mark to call him while they were in the car. In that moment is when the officer Knew Mark was not telling him the truth. Now that Jerome Clifford is dead there is not enough evidence to make a case against Blade, unless Mark tells the truth about the events that took place in the woods that day. The reason Mark will not tell the truth to the authorities is because he is scared he will get in trouble and more importantly because Jerome Clifford had told Mark that Blade would be out to kill him as well if he found out Mark knew what happened to senator Boyette. The FBI comes to interview Mark in an attempt to find the truth of just how much he knows. Out of fear mark runs down to the local law firm in search of a lawyer. He speaks to a lawyer named Reggie Love. Ms. Love chooses to accept Marks case after he explains to her his situation. Mark returns to be interrogated by the FBI. When he goes into the room it was explained to him the meaning of obstruction of justice, and the consequences of withholding information from the authorities. Mark was alone when he entered the room the first time and was told by agents that it was not necessary for his mother to be present during the interrogation. Mark then leaves to go to the restroom and then his lawyer "Ms. Love" walks in to the room and begins to question the FBI as to why Mark was told his mother did not need to

be present, and why he was not read his rights. Mark was also told by the FBI that it was not necessary for him to have attorney, which is against the law due to the fact that everyone is entitled to the right to have an attorney. Mark had a tape recorder in his pocket when he first walked into the room, so Ms. Love had all the lies the agents had told Mark on tape. Ms. Love rescheduled the interrogation for the next day when she and Marks mother could both be present. Blade hires a private investigator to find out just what Mark Sway knows. Mark is approached by a man in the hospital elevator dressed to be a doctor. The man is actually a mob member and holds young Mark at knife point telling him that if he tells anyone what he knows or what Jerome Clifford told him he would be killed. The FBI proceeds to the meeting Ms. Love had scheduled but Mark refused to talk to them. Not knowing why Mark would not talk Ms. Love once again storms the FBI with the facts of how they violated Marks rights, and tells them she will sue if they come near her client or his family again. The FBI tells Ms. Love that they know about her past alcohol problems and about that she has only been practicing law for two years. They believe she is not capable and does not have enough experience to defend Mark in this case. Meanwhile in the other room Mark hears them talking about Ms. Loves past. When she comes back in the room with mark he tells her that she is fired because he does not need another drunk like his father in his life to screw things up worse. Mark leaves the room and is stormed by media he has no other choice but to get in the car with Ms. Love. When they arrive back at Ms. Love's house she begins to explain to young Mark about her past situation and tells him how much her life has changed. Mark is touched by her story and decides to take her back as his lawyer. As Ms. Love and Mark continue to talk more Mark starts to tell ever exactly what he knows about the murder of the senator and about how Jerome had told him where Blade had buried the body. Ms. Love immediately takes Mark back to the hospital with his mother where he will be safe. When they arrive at the hospital Mark receives word from the police that his family's house had been burned to the ground by the mob, this was done as another warning sign for Mark to keep quite. Shortly after this Mark is told that he has to be taken into protective custody to await the hearing which has been moved up to the following morning. Mark is escorted out by the police and kept over night. Upon arriving in court those present consisted of the defense attorney "Ms. Love", the prosecutor "Rev. Roy Foltrigg", the bailiff, the defendant "Mark Sway" and the Judge. The defense attorney believes that her client's case should be dismissed do to the fact that the evidence was circumstantial and that it was only the opinion of the prosecutor that Mark had spoken to Jerome before he died.
