Severed Tower Of Power
"We're going to Six Flags," said my mother.
"Are you serious?" I asked. I love the thrill of amusement park rides, so as soon as she said this I felt I couldnÐ''t wait. The following day, we pulled into the parking lot and the excitement grew. We began to decide on all the rides we wanted to ride. We entered the park, and the first ride we came to was the Tower of Power. The ride slowly rose up to 154 feet and then plummeted to just a few feet above the ground, all in a matter of seconds. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to go on it.
I walked quickly to get in line, anxiously awaiting my turn to ride. After waiting a couple of minutes in line it was finally my turn to board the ride. I took my seat and closed the harness. Once everyone was secure the ride began to slowly rise. We arrived at the top of the ride, and we remained there suspended in air for a few seconds.
The view from the top was sublime, but this sight was cut short by the sudden acceleration of the ride towards the ground. One by one the seats began to fill, and the harnesses locked down securing the passengers to their seats. Once again the ride began to whirl as it began to power up. The anticipation on the riders' faces began to grow as the ride began to rise to its destination of twenty stories. There they sat for, from what I had experienced to be, the longest three seconds of my life. At this point you could see the entire park. I was suddenly interrupted by the ride beginning to plummet down. The passengers began screaming at the top of their lungs as they made their way down. As I looked up at the ride accelerating downward, I noticed something glitter in the sky. It was a metal cable that began swinging back and forth. The cable didn't seem important because the ride didn't malfunction. At this point I thought nothing more of the cable, and I continued to watch the ride as it plummeted to the bottom. It soon began to slow down to a stop as it reached the ground. Usually
