Various Causes of School Shooting in Recent

"That could never happen at my school." This is one of the first thoughts that go through a student's mind when they hear about a school shooting. The fact is though, it can. It was a typical day at Dawson College on September 14, 2006 until Kimveer Gill opened fire at more than ten thousand students. As result of the shooting 19 students were wounded and 1 was killed. What turned Kimveer Gill into massacre? The exposure to violent media, feeling of isolation and haunting past of bullying. School shootings can occur at any school at any time of the day. Lack of security is only a small part of the problem. The major cause of school shooting lies in the influence of violent media, feeling of estrangement and schoolyard bullying.

Not all , but a majority of a rap music videos contain violence associated with firearms such as shooting. Sadly, this is extremely popular among teens. In fact, teens contribute more time to watching the latest violent rap music videos than staking their future. Daily viewing creates a desire for tame and attention like celebrities that drive students to aspire like rap icons. In aspiring, teens take on the brutal behaviour and actions seen on television. A teen idolizing the rapper "50 cent" might consider shooting his enemies after witnessing 50 cent do it in his video " Many Men." A study completed by Huesman and colleagues demonstrated a relationship between viewing television violence and behaving aggressive. The exposure to violent media, such as rap music videos has led shootings in school.

Alienation- "a state of estrangement between the self and the objective world or between different parts of the personality." Recently, the feeling of alienation has been linked to a shooting rampage that occurred in a school in Montreal. Kimveer Gill became a cold- blooded killer shooting his fellow student after being isolated by society. The victim of alienation was no longer able to bear the rage and anger in him therefore felt the need to do something drastic. Shooting fellow students is not the first choice of a victim.
