In Wichita, siblings Frank and Dan Carney opened the main Pizza Hut eatery on June 15, 1958. They had been drawn closer by the proprietor of a little building who needed a decent neighborhood business, and had perused the Post's article about pizza. The Carneys obtained $600 from their mom, found John Bender, a pilot from McConnell Air Force Base who had acted as a pizza cook, acquired some second-hand hardware and were prepared for business. The primary night, they gave away pizza to intrigue potential clients.

Many individuals ask how Pizza Hut got its name. At the point when the Carneys were setting up that first eatery, the building has a sign with space for only nine characters. They needed to utilize "pizza" in the name, which left space for a word with just three characters. A relative proposed the building resembled a hut....and Pizza Hut was conceived.
