Wenxuan Zhao

As a current international student in the university, I do not have a lot of point of view about the Canada Government. But in this year, I got a course named ‘Government structure’, cause this class I try to know more information about the Canada government. For this reason, although I still do not know the Canada government so much and I also like to write some my expectation for the Canada Government according to what I know about the Government.

About my first expectation of the Canada government. the Canada government should put a cap on university tuition rates. I think in Canada have a high tuition fee in the university for the international students. And I found some data from the internet. “Nationally, average tuition fees for international undergraduate students rose 5.3% to $20,447 in 2014/2015, following a 6.8% increase in 2013/2014.The only province not to experience an increase was Newfoundland and Labrador, where the tuition fee freeze included international students. In the other provinces, fee increases for international undergraduate students ranged from 2.1% in Prince Edward Island to 6.9% in Ontario. For international graduate students, increases ranged from 1.0% in Alberta to 7.7% in Saskatchewan. Average tuition for international full-time students in graduate programs rose 3.3% to $13,934.” (1) The date is about 2013 to 2015 the increase of the university tuition of the international full-time students in graduate and undergraduate programs. I do not understand why the international students need a higher tuition fee then the local country students, just because the international students come from another country? I think the education industry shouldn’t have the difference between the local county students and other country students. So, for my personal point, I hope the Canada government can reduce the tuition fee of the international students.

Another expectation of the Canada government is the Canada government need pay attention to use the community technology’s important to the government work. The Communication technology is a technology can transfer the information from one side to another side, from one person to another person. For example, the e-mail and the cellphone. These things are all the communication technology. Just like we written down an -mail and we sent the e-mail to our friends, in this way, we were made the information what we want to our friends. now, the society in progress, everyone almost used the smart phone, and there are a lot of application on the smart phone. Such as the Facebook, twitter, and the Instagram. So, the communication is very convenience. I am an international student. As an international student, I need sent some letters to the Canada government for my study permit problem. If I can just send an email to the government and I can solve my study permit problem, or other problems.

A new expectation from me, I think the Canadain government should Improving the Public-Sector Efficiency. I have been the Halifax for a year. The first impression that the Canada government give to me is the public-Sector do not have the efficiency. For example, repair a road, Canada government may be use a month or two months, but in china we just need two weeks to three weeks. The efficiency is almost double of the Canada. And I have read an article named ‘Improving Public Sector Efficiency: Challenges and Opportunities’. it is talk about what benefit the government will get when the government improve the country’s public-sector efficiency. Firstly, the article is talk about the efficiency can advance the country’s institutional. “Empirical evidence nevertheless suggests that the following three
