I wish to apply to your MBA program with a concentration in project management for the spring semester of 2017. I first developed an interest in business during my undergraduate studies. Now, as I continue expanding on my professional career experience, I realize the necessity for continued education and mastery of project management in the corporate environment.

My parents have epitomized the American Dream. My paternal grandparents could not afford to send my father to college as they had 7 of his other siblings to provide for, but luckily he was able to achieve his bachelor’s degree by means of a collegiate baseball scholarship.  Likewise, my maternal grandparents had 5 children to support and could not afford to send my mother to school either. Fortunately, they had a life-long family friend that was kind and generous enough to help my mother pay her way through LVN nursing school. As a result, my parents now understand the importance of opportunity and education and have instilled those same values in me. I intend to continue the legacy they have established in my pursuit of further education.

In May of 2015, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. This school has provided me with a program that set the foundation in understanding the theory of business practices. Many of my professors emphasized the importance of getting an MBA in this dynamic, and ever-evolving business world. While studying here, I was fortunately selected for an internship at the BP Global headquarters in Houston, TX. While working for them, I was able to understand first-hand why my professors had stressed the necessity of an MBA. Employees of BP who had an MBA mentored me, and their perspective further strengthened my decision to obtain my master’s degree.

Once I graduated, I began my career with a Fortune 500 Financial Institution. This school helped cultivate the ideologies that successfully launched me into multiple awards and recognition from upper level management in my career. Because of my performance, I was then selected for a multitude of special projects. As the depth of my experience grew, I began to inquire on the many facets involved in a project. This introduced me to a need for understanding the specialization, application, and importance of project management and its role in a corporate setting.
