In Legally Blonde: The Musical, Elle Woods, after being dumped by her boyfriend Warner, for not being serious, makes her way into Harvard to win him back. She eventually realizes that she doesn’t need him in her life and can succeed by being herself. This show is all about girl power. The main characters are strong independent females. Elle Woods, who fearlessly makes her entrance at Harvard and proceeds to work hard to succeed is the main character. The Delta Nus, Elle’s sorority sisters, are all about female positivity and supporting their friend. They support Elle in everything she does from getting engaged (or so they thought) to getting into Harvard. They help her study and convince Harvard that Elle is what they want. Paulette is Elle’s best friend who owns her own business and got herself out of an abusive relationship. Vivienne, Warner’s new fiance, is strong in her beliefs. Although she doesn’t like Elle at first she later realizes that girls have to stick together and they become close friends. The woman that Elle is defending, Brooke Wyndham, has an entire workout dedicated to women’s self defense. Enid Hoopes, a supporting character, is what some may call a “raging feminist”. Enid truly believes in a woman’s ability to succeed, even going so far as to say “...our country’s out of whack and only women have the guts to go and take it back...”. These ladies in way or another are all promoting feminism. Not only are the females promoting girl power but some of the males characters are as well. Emmett Forrest takes Elle under his wing when she first arrives at Harvard. Throughout the show their relationship grows and they fall in love. Emmett never doubts Elle’s abilities and helps her to succeed. He never once over steps his boundaries in their growing relationship.
