The Latin American colonies lasted for over three hundred years and they were among the strongest colonies in the world.These colonies extended from colorado to the tip of Chile. Most of these spanish colonies ran by an economic system called the mercantilism, which is where colonies were supposed to produce and serve the mother country. The creoles were a main piece of these colonies. They were about middle status and were born in colonies of pure spanish blood. The creoles controlled most of the land, and they led the fight in independence for three reasons which are because of the way their economy was configured, the way they were treated unfairly, and because of the lack of representation in the government.

To start off, the Creoles led the fight for independence because they were disgruntled with the way their economy was configured. For example, the Creoles were “forced by [their] own government to sell [their] products at artificially low prices and buy what [they] need at artificially high prices” (Doc C). Because of this, the Creoles had virtually no way of making money off their goods and hard work. In addition, the Creoles tried making money on their crops, producing whatever they could in order to make a living, but their government set limitations on what they could produce (Doc C). This made it even harder for them to make money and made them even more infuriated at the government. Moreover, their economy was slowly crashing and their country was getting more impecunious. All in all, the Creoles were deeply dissatisfied with their economy and it eventually caused them to lead the fight for independence.

Second, the Creoles led the fight for independence because they were treated unfairly. In document A it is stated that “We are disputing with the natives for titles of ownership, and at the same time we are struggling to maintain ourselves in the country that gave us birth against the opposition of the invaders. Thus our position is most extraordinary and complicated.”(Document B). In this quote it is being said that they are fighting for ownership and trying to survive.
