Ju Hoasi and Tibetan Cultures Marriage

        Marriage in most cultures has nothing to do with love.  Most of the time it is for economic benefits.  In the both Ju hoasi and Tibetan cultures, marriage is for the benefits of the labor division and the economic benefits.

        In both cultures marriages compare and contrast in the aspect of how they are done.  In Ju culture marriages are done one on one, one husband and one wife.  In Tibetan culture marriages are done with multiple brothers and one woman.  This difference is one is done monogamously while the other is done polygamously. This difference shows how their cultures do marriages, the Ju do monogamous marriages while the Tibetan people do polygamous marriages. They compare in the way marriages are viewed, nothing to do with love but all for the economic benefits and for a better standard of living.  

        Both cultures are similar in the way they approach marriage.  They both approach marriage in a way that is almost business like.  In Ju culture the grooms family first offers a bride wealth to the brides family to ask for the marriage and then recipricol exchange is done to assure both sides the marriage is still on.  In Tibetan culture, marriage is approached by brothers to one woman in order to keep all the land they own.  They do this so there is no division of land and so there is a division of labor to make life easier and more productive for the brothers and the one bride.  They differ in the reasons why, in Ju culture its more like a business negotiation between families.  In Tibetan culture it is so the brothers aren't torn over who gets the land.  

        In both cultures marriage is almost nothing to do with love.  They are done for a better standard of living and so families have a division of labor.  Marriages are for the benefit of the bride in these cultures because women depend on men in these cultures, more in Ju culture but somewhat in Tibetan culture.  Overall, marriages usually have nothing to do with love in these cultures, but are meant to unite people.
