10. In some countries it is normal for older people to live on their own rather than with their children.

It was once said that it is better for older people to live without their children. There may appear two points of view, parental and children’s. Mostly, children are happy to be on their own, living with their freshly created families. Other point of view believes that parents are very tired of giving everything to their children and now they want just to enjoy their lives, doing whatever they want without keeping an eye on mature kids.

In my opinion, it is absolutely normal for older to live on their own rather than with their children. In my family grandparents have always lived separately from us. That has happened because they enjoy traveling and most of the times they are outside of the country, that is why it is way more convenient to stay in another apartment. Furthermore, parents want to live their lives as they have always wanted, developing their hobbies. For example, one of my friend’s grandma is collecting shoes from different parts of the world, she even has a room with her great collection. Surely, would not have had such an opportunity, if she lived with her children.

Moreover, after a certain age children are happy to get away from home as soon as possible. I believe that it is because they want to be independent individuals, starting their own families, creating their own lives, which is not based on someone’s experience. What is more, it is said that the less people in the room, the more oxygen there is. I totally agree with it. Parents have to understand that their children has grown up and they want to live their lives as they want. However, it is impossible when their parents are living with them because they do not want to change their way of doing things and we can understand them, because they have created it a very long time ago. That is why the only way to stay away from argues, is to live separately.
