Adolf Hitler was born on April 20,. 1889. He was born to Alois and Klara Hitler. While growing up Adolf got good grades in school with little effort. He also had a good talent for drawing. He was able to look at a building, memorize the details, and draw it from memory. When it was time to enter High school he had to decide whether he wanted to attend classical or technical school. His choice would have been classical school so he could become an artist. However, his dad wanted to follow in his footsteps and become a civil servant. His father didn't give him a choice and sent him to technical school. At age 13, Hitler's died from a lung hemorrhage. That made Hitler the head of the household. At the age of 16 Adolf decided to leave school and never to return. With no one to tell him what to do. He decided to wonder around Lunz, Austria, visiting museums, attending operas, and dreaming of becoming a great artist. At the age of 18 Hitler withdrew his inheritance money and went to live and study in Vienna. While there he took the two day entrance exam for the academy's school of painting. Unfortunately, he was denied because his drawings showed lack of of talent for artistic painting. Hitler was so angry that he left Vienna to go back home. When he got home he found out that his mother was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. In 1908 Hitler attempted to gain admission to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. However, like the first time he was denied again. Hitler's money slowly deteriorated and he made no attempt to find a job. He just let his money run out and eventually became homeless.

At the age of 25 Hitler volunteered for the German Army, enlisting in a Bavarian regiment. He fought in WW1 for the German Fatherland. He enjoyed it and now felt a sense of belonging. Hitler was very lucky and he also avoided injury. Corporal Hitler was a runner, he would take messages back and forth from the command staff in the rear to the fighting units near the front. In October 1916 Hitler's luck ran out. He was shot in the leg during the battle of the Somme. In August of 1918 he received the Iron Cross. Even though Hitler had a good record and received 5 metals he was still only a corporal. He remained a corporal because his superiors felt he lacked leadership qualities and had an unmilitary appearance, and odd personality. In 1919, Adolf Hitler was still in the army and stationed in Munich. There he became an informer. Corporal Hitler said that some of his soldiers supported the Marxist uprising. This lead to their arrest and executions. After that Hitler became an undercover agent in the Germany Army. His job was to weed out the Marxist influence within the ranks. Next Hitler would become an educational officer. His anti-semetic outbursts impressed his superiors so he was given the job of lecturing. He would lecture German prisoners of war on the dangers of communism and pacifism. His next assignment was to investigate a small group in Munich known as The German Workers Party. While at one of their meetings Hitler got angry at one man for what he had said. Hitler spoke out forcefully against the man for the next 15 minutes uninterrupted. One of the founders of The German Workers Party gave him a pamphlet and told him to read it and invited him to attend other meetings. A few days later Hitler received a postcard saying he was accepted as a member of the party. In 1919, at the age of 30, Hitler joined the committee. The German Party consisted of an executive committee of 7 members. To get more members they sent out invitations and had Adolf Hitler speak. Everyone was astonished on how Adolf could speak. More and more people starting showing up to the meetings. He spoke about The Treaty of Versailles and delivered anti-semitic tirades, blaming the Jews for Germany's problems. Hitler took charge of party propaganda in early 1920. He recruited young men he had known in the army. In 1920 they held their first mass meeting. About 2,000 people attended.
