The dropping of the atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki over a period of three to days was the turning point which led to the end of World War II. Nearly 200,000 civilians died due to the attack from the United States. These two bombings represented the first and the last time nuclear weapons were used against enemy targets. This event further lead to peace among the great powers, due to the knowledge of the immense impact nuclear power can have which can possible change the face of the world.

I think the the best level of analysis would be the Individual decisionmakers. The reason for thie would be in the motivtions of " typical" individuals faced with situations that require them to choose among alternative policies or course of action. The United States at the time of these bombings, both scientists and statesmen realized that ehtey were engaged in an act that would fundamentally change the future. The only alternative to the use of the bomb to force Japans;s surrender seemd to be an American invasion of the Japanese home islands which could have possibly cost the lives of tens of thousands American and Japanese casualities. The US Secretary of War HenryL. Stimson later wrote saying that the reasons for dropping the bomb have alwys seemed compelling and clear , and he ccould no see how any person vesed with such responsibility as his could have taken any other course or give any other advice to his chiefs.

The best alternative would be the key decision maker is seen to act in a particular way ; a way o bomb Japan because of the US's role in the political and the societal system.. The United States had a responsibility to look out for the intesrest of its own as well tat of the other countries. The United States,I believe took this step because it knw tat if it does not protect its own, no one else will have the capability to do so. But at this point the US wasn't the only focal ooint of innumerable pressures and constraints. During this event there wasn't
