Introduction:

The choices that we make in life determine the direction that our life takes. As in the story Godfather Death, there were many choices to be made. The father clearly could not support the thirteen children that he had, and it was believed that if a family has thirteen, one must sit down. So the father decides to look for a Godfather for his son. This is the decision that determined the direction that his child's life takes and what his child turns out to be. He chooses death because death he is fair, but at the same time this was what caused the son's demise demise. Equality does not equal heroism.

Conclusion:

Death was chosen as the godfather because he made no promises to the father of inequality. This was a quality that the father liked in death and bestowed upon him the right of godfather to his son. These are the same qualities that led the son to his death. The grim ripper figure who is godfather clearly warns the godson not to defy him. However, the godson defies death twice. Death has no preferences, but the godson does. He chose to cheat death the first time thinking that he will gain the kings favor by being his hero. And he also cheats his godfather a second time because he was infatuated by the princess' beauty. Death believes that he was cheated out of his property and therefore the godson had to be punished, he was not about to show preference to his godson.
