George Washington

George Washington was a very strong man. Little did he know that he would become Commander in Chief of the Continental army during the Revolutionary War. Being Commander and Chief was a tough job, but General Washington got through it. He dealt with traitors, emotional changes, struggles with battles, and problems with the army/soldiers, but he still came out okay. Here’s a little summary of his life during the Revolutionary War.

The Battle of Monmouth, (Monmouth, NJ), (June of 1778) was an unexpected win from General Lee. Yep, that’s right General Lee ordered the troops to retreat, but George Washington would never let that happen! So, He didn’t. He told the army to fight for freedom. Then, he ordered General Lee off the field. Since George Washington didn’t let General Lee order them around like children, a good thing happened! The Continental army won! By golly, they won! That is why the Battle of Monmouth is the most important event. If Washington would have let General Lee tell the army to retreat, they would not have won!

Benedict Arnold was a patriot, at one point, but then became a British soldier. Washington and Arnold had a good relationship when they met. They went to each other’s houses, parties, invites, etc. Benedict hurt his leg in combat, so Washington had Arnold take a break from the chaos for a little while. Then Benedict Arnold wanted to return to war, he said he was feeling better. Later on, at a party at Arnold’s house, Benedict asked Washington to talk in private. There Arnold asked Washington for a promotion. He didn’t want to hear the answer “No” from General Washington, but he did. It made Arnold mad about the fact that he wasn’t getting the promotions he thought he deserved. He wanted revenge and not just ordinary revenge, he wanted evil, back-stabbing revenge. So, when Washington sent a letter to Arnold, he just shared the letter with the British and switched to the British army. When Washington found out he was overwhelmed with anger. So, their relationship went from good to bad without any could be better in between.

Washington had a very strong and confident personality. He was a successful and bold leader. He gave up at only one battle, but with the rest of them, he was strong enough to keep going until
