Gender Role Before and Now

When thinking of gender roles in society, stereotypes generally come to mind. Throughout history these stereotypes have only proven to be true. Societies have always had traditional way of life. Gender role vary in different countries around the world by means of their inheritance, socialization. Women and men have different gender role in society. Tradition begin to change as year go by and people adjust in their way of life. Various things are widely accepted in today’s time. Traditionally in the United States women are the nurtures and men are the money makers. The women role has changed today in its domestic responsibility, education and professional life as compared to the women roles in year ago.

In past, women had number of domestic responsibility on their shoulder. Women used to stay at home to fulfilled home duties like women must do all household work, women could not expose in to real world, there was more family pressure and they must live in joint family, they were more dominated by their husband. In contrast, now a day’s women do household and outside work together, they were not dominated by their husband and free to do what they like, they live in nuclear family.

Secondly, women were less educated than today. Parents do not send women to school and society obligate if women go to school, education was only for male in the past. However, now a day’s parents are sending women to school, giving them better education in several sectors such as business, professional field and politics. Women are no longer swallowed by shadow of education and because of increase in women education rise their ability.
