Dear Mr. Brooks,

I am writing to you today to express how much of an inspiration you are, not only to myself but the entire musical and movie entertainment industry. I am usually not one to write letters and send them to people who may not even read them but after today, specifically after watching your film The Producers, I had an obligation to write to you and tell you that you and this film are complete genius. Every second of it, I couldn’t help but find myself laughing, even comedic movies that I watch specifically to get a good chuckle don’t compare to any of your films. You sir have an amazing talent to not only exploit the weird and quirky, in the characters, but find the correct actors to play these characters and portray the visions that you have for them. You are truly and inspiration, and not only with the movie The Producers but throughout your entire life. I mean how many other people are able to say they have been awarded an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. That is quite an accomplishment.

After hearing about your accomplishments, I was so intrigued that I had to learn more about your life. I found that growing up you learned to play the drums and were taught by the famous jazz drummer Buddy Rich, I’m curious how you even first met the legend. But what interested me even more was that playing the drums was your way of making money when you were in grade school and High school. I really related to this because when I was younger I graduated high school early to play music in a rock band, I was able to tour around the world for a year trying to make money in doing so, and I learned rather quickly it was a very hard thing to do and very stressful. Seeing that you were able to do it and do it at a young age at a younger age, even younger than I did really shows how truly inspirational you are, I was 17 when I left home to start my career in music, you were only 14. I also read that not only were you successful in music but you also served in our United States Army but you weren’t just a recruit were you. You made it through the ranks to become a corporal in the Engineer Combat Battalion, or the 78th infantry division, defusing bomb. Honestly the coolest thing I’ve ever heard. As I keep looking deeper and deeper into your life to draw inspiration, I keep finding things that keep me feeling more and more impressed by you and to be honest a little insecure. I’m only 23 and I have no clue what a trip mine even looks like let alone defuse it.

Growing up I use to watch movies like Spaceballs, Robin Hood, and Young Frankenstein, and believe it or not these were actually some of my favorite movies.  When I learned that you had directed those movies, I could only roll my eyes and tell myself  “Of course!” because who else could direct movies with such a comedic theme throughout but still keep the plot strong. I am glad that when I watched The Producers you kept the same ongoing theme. Now to be honest when I first read the summary of this movie I felt a little on edge because it seemed so outrageous of a movie plot, I mean a show about two producers who wants to scam their investors by planning a musical about a gay Hitler, who won the war. That even sounds ridiculous as I am saying it, but then after watching the trailers and seeing who you casted for the parts, I instantly had to buy the movie online, and I am glad that I did. I can now understand why you won 12 tony awards for this movie and broke the previous record that was held by Hello, Dolly! Not only did I appreciate the cast of The Producers but I also found the songs and dance numbers to be exceptional as well, everything on the movie fit up perfectly, of course my favorite being song being “Make it Gay”. This was one of the most original films I have ever come across and it is pure gold.
