Well the first thing I wanted to say was something that I wanted to say in class but didn’t speak up. It is about when we were talking about rhetorical strategies in politics and movements. Specifically when we talked about Donald Trumps slogan or saying “Lets make America great again!” You were mentioning that although no one really know what it really means it has been so effective for Trump. Now I’m not going to say that I know politics, because quite frankly I probably know the least out of anyone in our class about politics or economics or about America in general, I’m not even a citizen. I’m Canadian, so I probably don’t know too much about it. But I think I kind of understand why this slogan has been so effective for Trump.

For one, I think that that it comes at a good time for Trumps beliefs. We are at a time in America, or at least I think we are at a time in America where things are not going so well. There is a lot of crisis world wide as well as in America. The world wide crisis is obviously in part to the global economy which is clearly suffering. And also different problems around the world, the Syrian refugee crisis, then tensions with Russia and Syria and all of these other countries. (Of course I don’t really know much about any of this, so keep that in mind). So it comes at a time when people in America are on an edge and when an extreme either to one side or the other is welcome. So when Trump comes out with this slogan “Lets make America great again” really anyone can relate to it.

Now what exactly does that slogan mean. No on really knows, which is really one of the biggest reasons why I believe that makes it such a successful slogan for Mr. Trump. Making America great again could mean anything and everything to anyone. To a person that is rich it could mean getting richer, to a person who wants the military to be stronger it would mean making the military stronger. To a person who wants more government help it could mean that. Literally everyone can identify
