Q.1) Describe & quantify the value preposition of CMI’s Metal Cushion Pads

A.1) CMI‘s steel cushion pads had been larger than the standard pad and have been customizable from a preferred minimum length of eleven ½ inches to over 30 inches. CMI’s pads drove 33% faster than the asbestos pads and lasted a whole job because of their resiliency. They eliminated the downtown required changeover. For instance, after 500 toes of riding, the average temperature for the asbestos pads became between 600f and 700f, which created notable trouble after they needed to be replaced as the people in price need to look ahead to the pads to chill. While CMI’s pads by no means went more than 250 f and will be changed at once. The CMI metallic cushion pads were additionally freed from health hazards, unlike asbestos pads. "The net steel pads are much more secure than conventional pads.

Workers regularly had to deal with high-quality heated pads and risked the opportunity of being seriously burned.  Also, macerate pads are tons heavier than metal pads! thus increasing the threat of lower back and different 8 associated injuries. Conversely! CMI pads have drastically reduced the possibility of heat-related damage! And are tons lighter than the others pads. Efficiency of CMI pads also provides numerous performance benefits over other pads. It’s far those efficiency blessings that offer a sturdy argument for value discount to contractors and need to influence purchasing choices and marketplace penetration. In pile driving exams the CMI pads exhibited 99; greater riding efficiency! An instances boom in pad change efficiency! And a 68 time’s growth in piles according to pad efficiency

Value proposition of CMI’s Metal Cushion Pads is as follows.

  • Time Savings: Using CMI’s Cushion Pads, the driving efficiency increases and the resilience is greatly improved. This leads to lesser down-time, and effectively the project duration is also reduced significantly.
  • Safety Improvements: Lesser heat is generated during piling operations. This reduces the risk to the operatives when they change the pads, and also reduces the potential for file failure.
  • Sustainability: Cushion pads brought by CMI used only inert products. Not only that, these pads were fully recyclable after use of required.
  • Process Simplification: One pad replaces alternate blocks of Micarta and Aluminium, hence simplifying the process. CMI cushion pads always fell under the “off-the-shelf” category. This removes the need for local fabrication, again helping in simplifying the whole process.

Q.2) How far CMI’s metal cushion pads are different than existing cushion pads used in pile driving business?

A.2) CMI’s metal pile driving pads provided several benefits over the current cushions. Cumberland has many strengths, one being that is a very successful and well-known manufacturer and the reason the company has a competitive advantage over its competitors is because the product is exceptionally better than the conventional cushion pads.

The point of differentiation of the product from the rest of the existing cushion pads were created based on:

  1. Time Savings
  2. Safety improvements
  3. Sustainability
  4. Process simplification

CMI’s cushion pads lasted the entire job which eliminated the downtime required for the changeover. In addition, with Asbestos pads, workers often had to handle superheated pads; the average temperature for the pads was between 600-700 degrees Fahrenheit. This was a safety hazard for the workers. CMI’s pads, on the other hand, never exceeded 250 degrees Fahrenheit and could be handled almost immediately with protective gloves. Furthermore, CMI pads accounted for a 33% faster driving time, which translated into significant cost savings.

The  CMI's metal pads were much safer than conventional pads. Workers often had to handle superheated pads and risked the possibility of being severely burned also other pads were much heavier than metal pads thus increasing the risk of back and other weight-related injuries. Conversely, CMI pads significantly reduced the possibility of heat-related injury.

Q.3) How big is this market? What kind of opportunity is this for CMI?

A.3) On the basis of the report by Construction Engineering magazine the estimated potential market size would be

Market size (calculation)

Owned hammers

13000

Leased hammer (around 6500 to 13000) avg

9750

Total hammers

22750

Hammer used annually (22750*25 week/year*30hrs/week*20 feet per hour)

341,250,000

CMI pad usage

10,000

Maximum pads demanded annually (341250000/10000)

34,125

Maximum sets demanded annually /2

5,688

Thus, we can infer that the total market demand would be 5,688 sets demanded annually.

It would be a huge opportunity for launching it cushion pads whose test result also shown how the product passed through al the extreme situation and made Colerick anxious to buy more. If it plays the card right, the company can influence its purchase through pile hammer distributors and renting companies and construction workers in buying and promoting it’s product. The only turnover point will be it price fixation as the product is completely new and people would be skeptic in using it  actual projects.
