Architecture

Around centuries, there are so many styles of architecture existing in the world. From ancient Rome Empire to our present modern time, also much famous architecture remains from then on and to be the symbol of spirit in different people, in different ways. Around the world, architecture is not just the products produced by the architects, they also plays the roles of conveying some physic or mental concepts to the people who saw them or thought of them.

From global perspective, architectural history starts from the single-sided to go through a comprehensive, from self-centered to a relatively neutral process. And then develop into various styles of architecture through out the time.

Greek architecture

The ancient Greek heritage would be considered two themes. One is that it contains the image model of Greek architecture. These models include a series of decorative items, sculptures and styles. The other aspect of Greek architecture was the Greek view toward the essence of the building. Architectural forms are always made people passively accepted, the views of men about the origin of the building only can be the sense in mind, however, the instinct is often found in the obvious places.

Rome architecture

This style inherited the ancient Greek architectural achievements in architectural forms, technical and artistic aspects to be an innovative architectural style. Rome secular buildings were quite mature, and were also well functional. It can match a diversity of complex functional requirements. Rome architectural art had high achievements, opening up a new architectural field, enriching the architectural approaches.

Gothic architecture

It was originated in France around the11th century, and to be the fed of architectural style during 13th to15th centuries in Europe. It can be primarily seen in the Catholic Church, but also had the impacts the secular architecture. With its superb technical and artistic achievements, it occupied a significant position in the history of architecture.

Renaissance architecture

Renaissance building is popular in Europe during the middle century. It derived from Florence, Italy and formed with the characteristics of each country. Italian Renaissance building took the most important position in the Renaissance building. In theory, with the Renaissance-thinking basis, its shape excluded the Gothic architecture, which was the symbol of the God. Besides, this style advocated the revival of ancient Roman architectural forms, especially the classical column proportion, semicircular arch in the center of the dome building body and so on.

The most obvious feature of the renaissance architecture is that it gave up the style of the gothic architecture. Besides, it reused the elements of the ancient Rome and Greek time on the religious and secular buildings. Renaissance architects and artists believed that Gothic architecture is a symbol of Christian theocracy, but the ancient Rome and Greek time isn’t.

Baroque architecture

It was developed in the 17th and 18th century during the Italian Renaissance time, based on an architectural and decorative style. Baroque meant singular eccentric, which classicist considered deviant architectural style. This style is opposed to the rigid classical form, pursuing free-spirited expression of style and tasting secular aspects, which once to be widespread in Europe. Its characteristics were freedom and the pursuit of dynamic, loving elegant decoration, strong colors, often-interspersed surface and oval-shaped space.

Romantic building

Under 18th to19th centuries, the influence of Romanticism in Europe and the United States in the literature and art resulted in this kind of architectural style. Romanticism emphasized on individuality in the arts, promoting naturalism, advocating the use of medieval art style and academic classical art to compete.

Rococo architecture

Rococo style, produced in France and is popular in Europe, developed on the basis of Baroque architecture, mainly used in the interior decoration. The basic characteristics of it are delicate, charming, gorgeous, sweet and gentle.

Rococo style first appeared in the interior of the building, and later extended to the fields of painting, sculpture, crafts and literature.

Rococo is characterized in bright color and delicate decoration on applications, furniture, unlike baroque colors as strong, rich and gaudy decor.

Modernist architecture

Modernist building refers to a dominant position on architectural thought in the West architecture industry in 20th century. Representatives of this architectural propose that architect had to get rid of the traditional architectural forms, and create suitable ones for industrialized society or new building requirements. Therefore, it has a distinctive rationalism and radicalism, known as modernist architecture.

Representative of modernist advocated new architectural aesthetics, which included the means of expression and construction unity; with the combination of architectural form and internal functions; architectural image of logic; flexible and balanced asymmetrical composition draw in the visual arts architecture art. These architectural points were called "functionalism", also known as "rationalism", but more people called "Modernism."

When it comes to the model of the architecture in ancient time, the first thinking come to my mind will be the Taj Mahal, a celebrated tourist spot around the world. Perhaps, this answer is not correct for every people, but for me, what I learned is not just for its spectacular appearance but also for its lovely story inside. As we know, this grandiose mausoleum is a famous Indian architecture and is designated to be the World heritage site, which was constructed by Sha Jahan, the third emperor of the Mughal Empire, to memorize his sweetheart.

From the aspect of architecture, it was made by the prestigious architect, Ustad Ahmad Lahori, he refer the Humayun's tomb to as a blueprint and call for about 20,000 artisans and calligraphers around the world to build it with the combination of Central Asia style, Persia style and India style. Taj Mahal building collected all the building material from throughout India and Asia, Tibet and China, Afghanistan and Punjab, Sri Lanka and Arabia. Around 28 kinds of precious stones inlaid into the white marble appearance. On architectural aesthetics, the most notable thing is that completely symmetrical. Besides, the most unforgettable sight is its different face during different times, which in the early evening looming out through the dew is the bright gold; showing under the sun is bright white. Switching from sallow, yellow, to gradually become pink, dark red, pale blue under the sunset. Even change to the silver color with the moonlight shining, gives us the sense of exposing ourselves in the scenes of Wonderland.
