I don’t know of any grandparents or great grandparents that are not from America. So I will just explain what traditions we have in our family. Since we have all holidays to go I will try and sum it up some. Maybe you’ll hear some interesting different traditions that you might want to start.

Well I’ll just start off with the non holiday tradition which we just started a couple weeks ago. The deal is that every Sunday night we will have family dinner night at 6:30. The only person that comes that doesn’t live here is my sister Rachel she lives only 30 minutes away so its not a long drive for her. When I move out of the house I am supposed to come too every Sunday at 6:30. I’m glad that this started because when we get older and live our separate lives at least we will see each other at least once every week.

So I’ll start with January. In January we only have one tradition, which is on the first. January first is the New Year and we always have a party the night before with my parents’ friends and their kids and some family, which is fun sometimes. During this party we always eats twelve grapes, one for every month. The adults always drink white wine at 1 in the morning and the kids drink sprite or something that looks like white wine. Every year on January first at one in the morning when that ball drops everyone in the house cheers.

In February the holiday is Valentines Day. Every Valentines morning my brother and I always wake up to a stuffed animal, a card, and a box of chocolate. My parents wake up to breakfast if its on the weekend and a card from the three of us. If we don’t have school we go to our grandparents house but if we do we have a nice cooked meal after school and homework.

I’m going to skip March through June because there aren’t any major holidays. In July we celebrate July fourth. Every year on that day my parents have their friends come over and we light up some awesome fireworks. In our neighborhood there are also a block party in the field in front of our house.
